Poster Etiquette
What are you folks feelings on poster etiquette. I mean as far as having a poster in your living space and what you feel you should have. Now granted this should vary depending on living space, I.E. Dorm, Apartment, House.
Obviously the naked woman one isn't good, but as far as movie posters, depending on how it looks is really not bad. Like if I have a small office in my house a movie poster is totally acceptable. I guess I was just wondering all your feelings towards things like that. |

It really all depends on what kind of look you are going for. If you are a big fan of something then go ahead. Hubby has had a couple #3 posters in frames in our bedroom. In our new house I tentatively plan to hang those in his office since that will be almost exclusively HIS space. In the home for a more tasteful touch I have paintings, prints, and pastel pieces for a more classic touch. My home style is mostly classic pieces and conservative. If you had a more modern style a couple posters depending on the subject could look good. As for naked posters - It depends on the type of picture. If it's artistic and tasteful even if it's full nudity I wouldn't find it offensive. If it's gaudy and playboyish looking you might find a better place for it. You should also consider your audience. What kind of people do you have over? Girlfriends?-What are their personalities like? Family? Kids - most definately not playboy pics with kids around - my personal opinion. My parents are extremely conservative and would find ANY nudity distasteful so rather than deal with objections from bother sides I leave the nudity to more personal forums such as here.
Just my personal taste here at least. Maybe it'll help.

We've got an 8 x 24 ASCII nude printed out in our living room, we've got seven or eight artistic airbrushed nudes in the halls that one of our two female roommates brought with her, and we've got one of our computers running a 500-image playboy screen saver at all times. We also have quite a few beer posters, a huge Ferrari banner, and some movie posters.
Our common-area poster/wall decoration/wallpaper/screensaver rule is basically no dicks, and no pubes. Except on Porn Nights. Edit: just for demographics, we've got five people in our four-bedroom house, two girls and three guys, all within 2 years of 21 (girls are 19, guys are 21, 22, and 22)

Anyway, I think anything is acceptable so long as it follows two guidelines. 1) Be sure that it's something that nearly everyone who may enter the space will not be offended by, or at least everyone who you'd WANT in your space would not be offended by. Meaning, if you want to put up posters with nudity, then you probably don't care if a potential girlfriend may be offended by it because your personalities likely clash in that regard anyway. And 2) be sure that all other persons in the space agree with the posters. Other than that, I see no other rules that are necessary.

That sounds amazing. While I've had that number of roommates before, we only had one female member, and a Porn Night probably never occurred to any of us. Bother.
OTOH, we tended to "vet" her guys when she brought them home. She had poor taste in men, in our opinion. |

Actually, nudity isnt necessarily bad. I do a lot of photography, and artistic erotic photography has just as much of a place on my wall as a landscape does.
Now, just hot naked chicks isnt exactly tasteful. But if its tastful, artistic, and celebrates the beauty of the human body (female OR male), its all good.

I have a poster of a bong in my room. I just kind of put it up one day, my roommate and I have never discussed it. I never knew how to bring it up, but maybe I should...I took it down when his parents came and it is easily hidden (it's on a sliding closet). It's something I like to do, and I don't think I should have to hide it anymore...
