none, unfortunately. hedgehog died a couple months back, as did our strangely long-lived fish. a cat would be great to have. which brings something else up:
what is everyone's ideal pet and why?

Three cockatiels. My daughter was into bird breeding for a while. So we got the first hatchling (a male), followed about a year later by 2 white females.
Over the years, we have had dogs, cats, fish, and a variety of birds.

One really old cat, one big fat cat, and one small younger cat. Used to have a dog, but he's in doggy heaven now.
I'd love to have a monkey.. A friend who's visiting the States from Portugal told me that in the less populated areas, people just let monkeys come stay at their house and take them in as pets. Either that or an African Grey Parrot,, one of the smartest animals. Except It'd be a lot of responsibility. And the chances of it outsmarting you and killing you while you sleep are better. Good thing is the damned birds live so long. It'd probably outlive me.

Lets see... I have two cats, one black named Eclipse, one calico named Patches. My ideal pet... my friend's dead chocolate lab (obviously not dead, ideally). She accuses me of only liking her dog because she (the dog, not my friend) would run up to me and roll over so I could scratch her belly as soon as I walked into the house, and was just a great dog in general. Maybe I'll get a chocolate lab when I get my own place, who knows.

We took in my grandparents dog when they died. It's a German Shepard/Rottweiler mix.
We also have 2 cats, both of which were strays we took in. One is 7-10 years, the other is younger 1-3 years. All very friendly, but the older cat has moods.

Two cats and a dog.
Cat 1: 5 years old, prima donna bitch par excellence. Will draw blood as soon as look at you, unless she wants something from you. Cat 2: 2 year old fat female. Generally agreeable, though greedy Dog: 1 year old lab/chow/collie mix, mostly black. Sweetest, mellowest girl you ever saw. Currently having issues with submissive urination (which is fun when guests come over), but apart from that, very little trouble. |

I've got one little critter, a silver shaded persian. Normally these cats have those flat ugly faces, they look like E.T.. This one didn't though, so we named him Elliot. He's 16 years old, and dying of liver failure .
Bad pic of him here: http://www.msnusers.com/determann/sh...oto&PhotoID=21

TFP PETS
...No, NOT Penthouse pets! (I read your dirty mind already).
What pets do you have or have had? Anything really different? My last pets were two greyhounds off the track, but the ex has them. Before that, I had two cats we adopted. They came out of a "cat lady's" house and later developed FIV (feline AIDS) and one, Feline leukemia. Remarkably, we had those cats for 10 and 12 years (Nikki will tell you how amazing this is). Aside from some other beloved cats and dogs, my most unusual pet was a rat I got in college. One of my roomies had a sister in highschool and she kidnapped this lab rat they were going to kill. They suspected her, so she hid the rat in our dorm apartment. This guy didn't want it, so I got it. His name was Vern and he turned out to be a great pet. He would run about and poke his nose in everything and he never bit. My mom freaked out when I brought him home for the summer, but she got used to him. After a while she could even pet him. I finally had to have him put down when he got a brain tumor. He was a great pet for 2 1/2 years. I just threw his cage away during my last move

Dogs...always. I have never had anything but dogs. Oh wait, I did have a hamster when I was 8 that bit my finger and upon yanking my hand away while it still clinging to my finger I "threw" it across the room...it was an accident! It died the next day...My Papa used to tease me that it died from biting me! No wonder I stuck with dogs!
I am a dog lover. Had 2 Husky / Shephard mixes. One lived for 17 years and the other my ex still has, she is 10. Also a little Terrier / Maltese mix who lived until one week past her 17th birthday. Must be something in the number 17?

i officially have two cats named fuzz bucket and spud, respectively, as well as a dog named jack. the cats are regular ol' american tabbies, and the dog is a half black lab half greyhound mix and cuter than a bug's ear. i also unofficially have a small grey cat named marissa who is really my roommate's but spends all her time with me. i also had 16 goldfish, but a heron ate them all so we have to buy new ones.

I have not had a good history with pets. I once had a goldfish that disappeared. My parents thought that I found it dead and flushed it. They figured that I was so distraught that I didn't mention it. About 6 months later my mom found a dried out goldfish behind one of her cookbooks. Apparently,it had committed suicide. A few years later my sister and I both had hamsters. Once morning, we woke up and found them both dead. It looked as though one ate the other one and then died. We had fed them regularly. It didn't make much sense. Now, my wife and I have a airdale terrier/chow/husky mix. He's great.

I had a couple of rats for awhile, Trinity and Finoa. They were pretty cool but I got tired of cleaning their cage and they really weren't a very big hit with the ladies.
Now I have a cat named Scratchy McBitey. He likes to scratch me and then bite me. He is a good cat though. |

Two dogs. A german shepard / timber wolf cross, and a huge, 118 pound, something or the other that looks slightly like a german shepard. Two cats of mixed heritage, the occasional armidillo, couple of roadrunners that live somewhere on my place, and several wild birds that live out of our bird feeders.
Oh, and the occasional Bullsnake that lives in the shed that my wife doesn't know about.
