Fort Lauderdale - early September - Advice needed
Any advice on what to do, where to go, what to see in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in early September? On a relatively small budget. Will spend money for good restaurants etc. Wife will stay on beach most of the time.
I am considering short road trips - Everglades for sure, possibly the Keys. Any good bars, restaurants, clubs things to do appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help! |
Eat breakfast on the Anglin Pier at the end of Commercial Blvd. Get there at 7:00 AM or expect long lines. Breakfast is cheap and good eating.
Drive up to Lighthouse Point and take the short ferry to Cap's Place for dinner. The food is to die for, I assure you. For cheap lodging on the beach, you can't beat Howard Johnson on Ft. Lauderdale Beach. It's right across the street from the beach and usually is less than $60.00 a nite and the rooms are clean. Nice pool, also. Check out the Riverwalk, downtown off of Las Olas. I go to Ft. Lauderdale at least once a month and I used to live over there, so if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. |
Priceline is great for getting low priced hotels. I recently stayed at a 4-star hotel in New Orleans for $50 a night.
Here is a link to a list of hotels in Ft. Lauderdale offered by priceline and what people are bidding on them. |
Another thing to remember is that September is pretty much the peak month for hurricanes. Things have been a little busy in Florida, so far. Buy trip insurance.

Thanks for all the ideas. We already have a hotel - package flight deal. I will have to check out some of the places.
