At Home Remedies for Stiff/Swollen Jaw

I got all 4 wisdom teeth out on Friday. Lower two were completely impacted and the upper two were partially impacted. I can't even tell that I've had the upper two out.

Bottom two hurt like hell. I was on Percocet for 3 days and then that ran out and now I'm on lortabs. Had horrible pain for about 2 days and went in to see the Doctor today. I had a dry socket in one and I'm pretty sure it is in the other one too. There is this disgusting liquid that oozes out of my gum back there and it's yellow. The taste I can't even describe.

I was just wondering if anyone has any at home remedies for stiff/swollen jaws. I've tried ice and heat and nothing is working!! At this point I am willing to try anything!! Ibuprofen the doctor recommended just isn't cutting it anymore!

Well I've had toothaches and until I could get in to the dentist I've used Oragel or Orabase, teething gel or liquids. I've also sucked on Cloraseptic or Sucrets lozenges to dull the pain or used the Cloraseptic spray. Also I've put IcyHot, BenGay or Aspergel on the outside of my jaw where it's uncomfortable. At night I've laid with an icepack under my jaw. Just some pain relief methods I've used.

Then - yellow ooze?? What did your Dr say about that? Anything oozing several days after, especially any ooze that's not clear makes me uneasy. Did he say anything about infection?? Your pain should be easing up by now. My sister-in-law had this done about a year ago or so and had a lot of pain to begin with but after a couple days it was almost gone. Something just doesn't sound right to me. Did you're Dr look at the discharge from the socket? He may be dealing with the pain but has he addressed any possible infections? If he talks down to you when you bring up any concerns, find yourself another Dr ASAP.

I think that doctor must be going blind. I obviously had a nasty infection starting. Yesterday I had to go into the hospital and get an emergency antiobiotic delivered via IV. Now my face is still so incredibly swollen. I'm really irritated with him. It was like everything I told him was really nothing to worry about and the pain couldn't really be that bad.

So glad you got it caught. Do you have insurance? Will you have to pay for that hospital visit because of infection? If so you could ask him to pay for it since he had the opportunity to catch it early and didn't care to pay attention.
