drinking
Its not very important or life threating but I have been 21 for a while and my tolerance has not gotten any better. I still drink 2 beers and get "buzzed" but my stamina has improved from passing out after 3 beers to a lot more. Its pretty much best of both worlds cause i get the easy buzz but don't pass out till later that night. I know thats not normal but just wondering if there is something wrong
|
There is nothing wrong. Different people have different tolerances. It's not a race, or a competition. You just end up saving money because it takes you less alcohol to get a good buzz. On the other hand, when it does become a race, or a competition, you'll wish you practiced more. I had three beers and two whiskeys last night and didn't even feel it.

There's nothing wrong with you. Everyone has different tolerances to alcohol. Are you light (as in physically light). Also, dont drink on an empty stomach, youll have less tolerance that way.
|
Different people have different tolerances. I know people that can drink a 12 pack and be fine, and I know others that black out after three. Dont worry about it.
|
Sounds fine to me. I think to build up a tolerance you need to drink a few beers every few days. Now that is not healthy and having a low tolerance is great. You can get drunk and still have money in your pocket.
|
its not that you have to drink every day to build up stamina(which isnt that great anyway, just gets more expensive ^^)
for myself, ive been drinking since i was 14 (legal age 16 for beer here in germany) and it still depends a lot on the day.. someday i can drink 8 beers(0,5 liter/beer) someday i can drink just 4 |
How many beers do you drink before you pass out? Also, how many times a week do you drink like that?

being an unemployed 18 year old with a high tolerance and physically light weight, id say your quite lucky.
it takes me a lot to get drunk on beer now a days and i have to be in the right mood to be able to consume such enormous amounts liquids. enjoy it while you can |

as for original question different tolerances for different people could come down to how much food is in your stomach you could slow it down by drinking water inbetween beers. Or eating high starch foods like bread/crackers/fries. either way I wouldn't worry about it. |
Mine differs.
Some days I can seriously drink an entire case (12) of Corona within 2 hours and not feel a goddamn thing, while other days, I can drink TWO and I'll feel a bit tipsy. Other than food intake for the day, I'm not exactly sure why that is. |

m 6'8" and 290, so this skews the results a bit. |
i cant drink enough beer to pass out, but give me a single malt and 2/3 through the bottle i am gone
|
And the single malt is a much more plesent way to get there. 2/3 sounds about right.

Everyone is different. For me, it takes at least six to start to feel anything. Some friends, it may only take 3.
Two girls I know - one is about 5'10, 125, and can easily drink 8 to 10 beers without being tipsy. The other, 5'7 and 155ish, is three sheets to the wind after half a shot of vodka. Everyone is different. Too many college kids think drinking is a contest. You're just wasting precious beer that way. Drink it slow, enjoy it and its relaxing effects. A beer should be like a good cigar - savor it. |
Gotta say that there's nothing more relaxing that a cold one after a good work out. The endorphins are pumping anyway and then you throw in a beer/shot...
Heaven... As far as how much you can take depends very much on the type of alcohol. As I'm sure you are aware, every brand will have a different percentage of alcohol per volume. In other cases, it's an entirely psychological effect (drunk with laughter) and the alcohol, itself, is only affecting you slightly, but the social environment and the endorphins released by being happy take you the rest of the way. Take it from the Zen-master of Drunkeness. (PS: I can handle an 750ml of Jose Cuervo and only be a little drunk... 6'2" 280lbs) |
Here's a random thought from someone with a reasonable tolerance...
Have you considered drinking alcohol for the taste, and not to get drunk? Just a suggestion. |
I'm the King of drinking... among other things.
I don't get drunk anymore. I get a little buzz that lasts all night long then without warning... I pass out. It's king of nice. If I can make it home before I pass out then I'm fine. Then sometimes, like last night, I have to crash at a friends house that's closer to the bar. It was a girl last night so it wasn't all bad. Booze is different for everyone. Your normal. |
I just started drinking within the past year, though I don't think I have ever been drunk. I will drink for a couple of hours, get a horrible stomach ache, and fall asleep.
It gets a little boring. |
I have to say. you are one lucky bastard. I can get drunk, FINALLY, on about 6 shots of Tequila. It takes a lot to get me drunk. be happy you are a cheep one.
|
like people have said before, not eating dinner and then taking 2-3 shots of vodka and follow up with a shot every hour and I can usually keep a great buzz the whole night.
