Passed my state exam today for becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. I know it's not like graduating from college or anything, but I passed with flying colours, and feel very accomplished, so I wanted to share. Thank you.

Nah. Nursing assistants (or nurse's aides) do the "hands-on" work in hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities. They transfer residents/patients, assist them with activities of daily living such as showering, eating, etc. They take care of the basic hygiene and needs of those who cannot do it for themselves.

Wish I liked that flavor of work. Congratz.
I see alot of ads with all sorts of bonuses and incentives to get certified RNAs / CNAs to choose their medical establishment over th other guys.
I remember back in the day I was still under the dellusion the tech industry would be like that. Anyways, best of luck to you.

Ive read what it is you do prince, but not to be rude but isnt a nurse a doctors assistant?

Uhh, technically, nurses aren't doctors' "assistants"... But generally speaking you've got the right idea, in the sense that CNAs do the hands-on work that nurses don't have to. We report to nurses, so I guess in that sense we're assisting them, but our main focus is on the residents/patients.

Hey - congratulations! My sister is currently studying to take the Virginia State Board Exam on July 10. Hopefully she'll be joining you in the ranks of officially certified CNA's.

It's a tough job, I can commend you on becoming a CNA. Don't stop there though... you should definitely get ready to move forward to becoming an LVN!!
