Kinda Scary
Ok, so forgive my ignorance but I stumbled upon a website (PeopleData) and searched (for fun) my unusual surname, and it came up with MY WHOLE FAMILY. Now I click on the link where I can find out addresses, phone numbers, even photos. Unfortunately, it's like $30 to get it all and I'm not about to pay it, but I'm just wondering how legit this is? Like if I were to pay it, would it come up with actual info? This is super scary. I'm not in the list, but both my parents are and so is my older brother (they are the only family that lives in the states), and it lists both of the locations we've ever lived (Cali and Utah) with info from both states.... So yeah... if anyone can tell me that it's fake I would really appreciate it. Also, another question, how do you get on lists like that? I'm not on it, so it's kinda weird.
I've always heard that you can find anything out about anyone over the internet, but I never thought it would be so easy... and for only 30 dollars? |
yay... no info on canada

What's really creepy, is that satellite photo thing. I wonder if it works. I almost paid the six bucks to find out, but just couldn't muster up the nerve to let this site get a hold of my credit card info.

I wish someone would try that out and let us know what happens!

Generally the info is gleaned from public records.
For addressing info,I beleive it goes by what the phone company has, at least my address has always been the address that Verizon has for me, which isn't my exact address. Could someone get your credit card information? No, but could they find out if you've been arrested or other stuff? I think so. Sattelite photos, have been available for free thru other sites for a while, but I do not believe they are current. Like you couldn't walk into your back yard nekkid and get a photo taken. |
My name was in there. But, I know myself well enough that I'm not gonna fork over cash to find out about me. :D

But the thing is, my family has always had unlisted numbers and addresses. No one has any info about our whereabouts in Utah (when we left Cali, we left it well), so that's whats scary... I wish someone would try it out.... I just dont have 30 dollars to blow just to see what happens.... |

I've tried it on someone, and I didn't get them. It promises to give you former information, but you really don't know what you're paying for, until it's too late, and you're ripped off.

Yeah don't waste your money on that crap. You can get all of that information from public records. I once spent money on one of those services and they didn't give me anymore information than what I could have gotten for free. And to top it all off the info they gave me was out dated too.
www.verizon.com is a really good online phone book www.anywho.com also is an online phone book, but an added bonus is that you can look people up and then you can get the addresses and phone numbers and names of everyone that lives on that street too. Most states also have a website were you can look up criminal records by counties. I know Missouri has one, I'd assume that most other states have it too. |
Unlisted protects you from a few non-persistent telemarketers and the casual stalker. If I want to find someone unlisted, I can. I can get a credit report and arrest record on someone with no more info than a phone number. This isn't hard to compile into an online scamming database. Every time someone types their name in, it picks up more data about them.
(Side note: even though I mentioned that could get info on people, I won't, I'm not offering to, so don't bother asking) |
