tattoo options...
So here I'm thinking about getting my next tattoo (actually not so much thinking as just simply trying to save the money). The one part I'm having a problem with though is where I should get it. Mind you, it will be small so I have a variety of options....I already have three tattoos (one on my lower back, one on my right ankle - the outside- and one on my left hip), so those can't be included....
My options are these..... Thanks

I voted for the back of the shoulder, thats where I got my last one. My first two were put on each of the top of my thighs, you cant see them unless Im wearing really short shorts because of how high I had them placed and I must say that is my favorite place. When I got brave enuff to get my first one I was determined it be in a place that I could see (I was SO proud of it lol) so thats why I picked there. Did you think about that area?

don't do the back of the neck
there are going to be occasions where you wear something less than a turtleneck where you aren't gonna wanna be showing off your tattoo. i'd put it somwhere inconspicuous like the small of your back or your ankles, somewhere that you can show off when you decide to dress down (summer clothing, party wear, etc...). the old rule for guys was to never get a tattoo anywhere that you can't cover with a sleeve or collar, because there are going to be times in everyone's life where they'll wanna dress up and pretend to be repsectable.

i think it should depend on what your getting a tattoo of.
a girl with a chinese symbol on the back of her neck is quite hot. although if its a butterfly or something id put it on your shoulder and a band obviously a wrist or upper arm. |

What are you going to get a tattoo of? Maybe you can get one on the right side of your hip to balance it out? Back of your neck would be pretty cool. Or you can always add around your original tattoos. I have one on my chest, and I plan to work around it. I'm not a big fan of "one spot" sorta style, where tattoos are kinda placed here and there. I like it when they flow along with another, even if they are of seperate designs. It's just alot more fun to look at. But that's just my preference.

the tattoo i'm getting is just a small word (the word is 'gaol' - gaelic for 'love') so i'm thinking either the back of the neck or the wrist would be the best idea....
but i'm still thinking....

I have a star on the back of my neck. I have another star at the base of my spine. I have two others, one on my lower middle back, and one as an arm band. Those two aren't stars though.

I'm not big into tattoos, but I voted on your foot..
Don't do it on your lower back.. I see *way* too many girls with one there.

I'd have to say .. choose for yourself. You might hate it wherever people think it looks good here. You gotta make a decision for yourself, or you'll probably regret having a tattoo somewhere you wish it wasn't in a few years.
Honestly though, its one of my pet peeves. Get a tattoo in your own place, of your own kind, for your own reasons. |

if its only going to be small id stay clear of the shoulder, tattoos are addictive and more often than not people get small tattos then one day see a bigger tat that they want where the small one is. this causes them dilemas as they still like the small one.
i used to work in a studio and have seen this many times. some even decide on another work so they can keep the small tat but admit to later regretting not getting the small one covered with the one they liked. so my advice would be if its to be a small tat get it in a small area i.e the wrist, it may save you some regret in the future. |

And please don't leave comments like this. It has nothing to do with her poll/thread, and is just really negative. Or can you at least explain why you don't like it? Yes, I realize I am attacking your opinions, and this is supposed to be an open forum for people to express themselves. But at least try and engage in a discussion, rather than just leave a simple sentence. Last edited by evilbeefchan; 07-20-2004 at 10:58 PM.. |

If you arn't aware, "Gaol" is the uncommon but still used english spelling for jail as in prison, i know i read it as that and id guess that more people would think it meant that than the gaelic for love.

after doing a little more research, it seems Scottish Gaelic Gaol means love, while in Irish Gaelic it means prison also, jus a heads up
