Things to do in Texas.

I am going to San Antonio, Texas next Tuesday. I have never been there before. I was just hoping someone could give me some suggestions on what I should do/see while I am there?

I live in Austin, so I can't give you any of the insider stuff, all I can suggest is some of the more touristy things. Of course there is the Riverwalk and the Alamo. There are a few other interesting old missions (churches) too. There is also Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas if you are looking for that type of thing. There is a tower thingy at the Hemisfair park. I like to go to the Market Square (El Mercado). I hear the zoo is not too bad.

Can't recommend any specific restaurant, but there are several along the Riverwalk and in the Market Square. Maybe somebody from San Antonio can help you out in that regard.

Where are you coming from?

Thanks for the info. A friend of mine was there a while back and said the Riverwalk was nice too.

I am coming from Waterloo, Canada. I have to present some training sessions while I am there but I should have a bunch of free time to.

Thanks again.

I've got some advice. Don't pee on the Alamo. They don't like when people do that...

You're welcome

There is a little town just west of San Antonio on I-10. Can't remember the name, but San Antonians will be able to identify ti. It has an old style Texas dance hall. And the company that does Macaroni Grill and other national chain restaurants tests out their new restaurant concepts here, so there are several interesting restaurants.

Also, though I am not a big museum goer, the San Antonio museum is quite excellent. There is also a famous house that has been converted into a museum, again I can't remember the name, but it is fairly well known.

San Antonio, I beleive the activitiy of choice was SWEATING. I do not ever remember a place being as beastly hot with wicked humidity as San Antonio was.

Riverwalk is kinda neat though

Oh yeah, it is definately hot. It's been raining here almost every day the last week, but the sun has finally come back out and it is heating up. Especially if you are used to Canadian weather. And the humidity will be wicked, but you should really try Houston in August.

I don't know if you are a fan of Tex-Mex food, but you for sure need to try it once or twice while you are in San Antonio. And I don't mean Taco Bell.

Be sure to let us know how it went.

While at the Alamo, you should ask about the tour of the basement. It is not mentioned in any of the brochures and is a must see.
