Back pain - chiro or physio?
Damn, my back hurts and I'm not sure what I have done to it. It's in the middle of my spine and sometimes it hurts so much I can't breath. It's been like this for a couple of days, and I think it was when I was trying to push a shopping trolley up onto the curb on Friday evening. Seriously...it was fine at work....I left...did some shopping...came home and it was hurting.
So....do I see a chiropracter or a physiotherapist? Usually if I have a sore neck or whatever, I head to the physio, but I have never had back pain like this before, so do people generally see a chiro for this type of pain or what? |
It depends upon whether or not muscles or bones are involved. As the injury was caused pushing the shopping trolley, I suspect it is muscular. I'd try a good deep tissue massage as a first step.

Hhmmm....massage....hell, you don't need to tell me twice!
Thanks mate. |
You're welcome. My MO, do what feels best first.
 |
See a doctor. It could be serious get MRI done I say.
<p>/Suffering from lower-back pain. |
Try an over the counter anti-inflammatory and some heat for a few days- bet that does it!
Doesn't cost much either:) |
I'd personally recommend an Osteopath before either. Much more gentle and specialised treatment for a similar cost.

Thanks for the tips, people. I ended up at my usual physiotherapist for an hour this afternoon who did a lot of feeling and rubbing and could not locate any specific area of pain. She suggested it was in my joints (the pain is right under my bra strap) and put these little electrode thingies on with a heat pack for 10 mins, and gave me some stretches to do.
I picked up some Nurofen (anti-inflammatories) tonight and they are working a treat (although it's a damn good reason for the kids to pick up after themselves!). I'll head back on Thursday if it's still tender. |
