Watch yourself very closely. If you get a fever or notice any other problems, see a Dr. IMMEDIATELY! We had a guy in the AF that got an "unauthorized" nipple ring. After a month of hoping that it would heal he finally went to the hospital and they found gangrene throuout his chest. He died. Not an Urban Legend either.
Be careful and I wish you the best.

It should heal fine in time, keep it clean, the tissue will always be thicker that nomal,it is after all scar tissue, but after a year should be almost unnoticable.Sometimes the hole never closes,Depending on how much it had healed while you had it.but lack of use.. will soften it greatly.

well i can feel the skin tube in there... and then i can feel a kinda trail going from where it was when it migrated... the trail has already gotten a little softer...
im just wanting it to hurry and close up and soften enough to get it repierced... and this time i wont make the same mistakes while its healing... the holes have already shrunk down to the size of pinholes....

I had a prob with my old eyebrow piercing. I thoguht the redness and scar tissue would never go away. It did eventually- after about 1.5 years. I wouldnt reccomend getting it repierced over scar tissue though.

Here's the thing with scar tissue... You have to rub the area a lot to work it out. 3 & 1/2 years ago I was in a car accident and had to have surgery on my arm and leg to repair the broken bones. On my arm I started to develop scar tissue, so during my physical thearpist would take a good 15-20 minutes constantly rubbing my arm with lotion working the skin. It had just gotten really tight around the scar, and she told me that if we didn't do that it would just continue to get tighter.
So my advice is just get some regular every day lotion and give your nipple a good rubbin for 15-20 minutes a day. Really get that tissue working. And hey, maybe it'll feel good

I second the recommendation to do some massage/rubbing of the tissue to help the scar tissue soften/re-absorb/etc.
Also, keep it clean. The fistula (skin tube) is gonna close off and heal up, but you still want to try and keep it decently cleaned out. Also, see if your next piercing can use the scar tissue for bracing (piercing in a manner that uses the scar tissue to help the new hole stay in place).

I took my nipple peircing out 5 years ago. I had it for about 4 years, as of a week or so ago it is about 98% healed. Keep it clean as stated, messaging is good too. You will start to notice the healing soon, but it might take a while. Like I said 5 years ago and its about done. Minimal scar tube and can barely see where it was at.
