Fun things to do in San Jose?
Any ideas?
nwlinkvxd and I want to visit San Jose from the 2-5 July since it's where he goes to school (SJSU) and I haven't really seen the city yet. So, where are some relatively cheap but fun must-see place? |
the tech museum is actually really great but other than that i'd recomend getting out of town -- head down to santa cruz or up to san francisco.

Yeah, I was thinking the tech museum, except that it's really expensive, according to nwlinkvxd (he said it just made cool things boring, too). What would there be to do in Santa Cruz or San Francisco, as well?

San Francisco is an great city -- wear very comfortable walking shoes
Gotta stroll down Lomboard Street, the second most crooked street in the city, it's really quite neat. The Defenestration Building is another must see, it's an old abandoned building with furniture hanging out it's open windows. Riding the cable cars are kind of the law - you must The Esplanade in downtown SanFran -- a beautful park with a waterfaill dedicated to Martin Luther King For a treat, go for a drink (the soft cariety) at the bar in the Mark Hopkins Hotel (I think it's an Intercontinental now), called Top of the Mark -it's a really hoity toity hotel in sNob Hill - but the views from this piano bar were superb (it's also quite romantic) San Fran is just a great wandering city -- just hop off the cable car where ever suits your fancy - and wander. Alcatraz is nearby as well -- kind of a neat place to visit. I l ove architecture, so it's a dream city with a lot of the cathedrals with the real gothic design - Fisherman's Wharf usually has tons of street performers - a nice free way to spend the day.. |
since maleficent covered san francisco (though i could add more... i think a visit to good vibes is a must for the city). I'll happily provide a few santa crux suggestions.
1. marrianne's ice cream is amazing, you must must must have some. 2. you can rent kayaks at the pier for relativly cheap and paddle around -- last time i was out i saw baby otters! 3. wondering downtown is tons of fun, you shouldn't miss the great vintage/thrift stores as well as the used record store. 4. the natural bridges are really cool 5. yummy shrimp cocktails on the pier. |
 We have to postpone this trip, too. I've been to San Francisco. I am more looking for San Jose things to do, but a few suggestions for nearby cities are great too. :)

Sorry, but as far as I know, San Jose is just a bunch of houses with a few tall buildings in the center.
