Kind of emberassing..hairy problem
 

It never really bothered me when I was younger, but now i am absolutely disguisted by my hairy arms, legs, back, and even hands. It doesn't seem to bother my friends and family, and I know it's pretty much average compared to other hairy people, but I am always conscious because of it. I ask for your help, because I know people on this forum are awesome at providing material for others who have trouble finding the answers. I had laser hair removal on the area below my neck and top part of my back. It took four visits, and cost me 200 bucks per visit. It's a very small area, but that's where I had it the worst. Do people have stuff done on their hands and etc? Shaving? I have hair on my fingers even. It's very emberassing for me. Any links, advice is wlecomed.

Seems like it's always something. It was acne when i was 16, it was my weight when i was 20, I am in good shape now, and all of a suddent it's the hair. Argh!

I think you should realize that looks aren't everything in life. If you died tomorrow, would you want people to remember that you did a lot of good things in the world, or that you had hairless fingers?

Hey, if you want to spend a shitload of money on cosmetic surgery, go ahead. Somebody has to make these doctors rich.

You know, like the last poster said, you will be loved if you have hair or not. You shouldn't be so self-conscious because I bet no one is looking at you weird just because you have hairy hands. Don't waste the money, dude.

here is your real problem. even if you do find an answer to your hairy situation, what's next... plastic surgery?

I agree with the others also, as a hairy guy I thought about doing the same for a while then just decided why waste the money? It's nothing to be ashamed of even if "society" deems it gross or whatever. Be proud of your hair!

I say if it makes you unhappy.....then get rid of it.

I am italian and I have some hair on my arms. I use Nair or shave it depending on the time I want to spend on it. No one can even tell it was there. I just recently told my BF and he had no clue that I even had hair there. The hair on the rest of my body that I dont like also gets shaved. Fortunately I don't have to deal with back hair, but I would suggest getting someone to Nair you or using Laser Hair Removal. I think you will be very happy with the new smooth you.

While I agree with the above posts stating that looks aren't everything, etc. But there's nothing wrong with wanting to look your best. I say go for it.

I don't really have any advice for you right now. I do remember seeing/reading something about a company that is developing a laser hair removal device that will be made for home use. I think I remember it saying it would be released in a year or so.

Most hair isn't objectionable to most people. Hair in your nose of course is one place people generally expect trimming at least.

Personally I have fine blonde hair on half of my body. It's almost imperceptable in some places because it's so fine and light. I have some on my fingers but none on my hands. If your fingers and hands bother at all you could possibly - I'm just brainstorming here - if it's not too thick you could just bleach it. As for chest and back it's no big deal. Hubby's got some on his chest and back - not thick but noticeable. I enjoy it. I found it attractive when I first met him even.

If it bothers you in any other way go ahead and shave or nair it but don't obsess. We are our own worst critics. Go easy on yourself.

Damned if I do, damned if i don't type of situation. I know some of you shave your biceps, but are any of you who do it extremelly hairy? Or is it mostly people with little hair? Anyone ever shave their knucles and hands? How does it look? How does it grow? I would be fine with little hair, but it's very fine coarse on my hands, wrist area, knuckles, biceps/triceps. I've already accepted that I am stuck with the hairy legs lol. Would like to hear from people with experience before I do something stupid.

While we are on the topic, how hard is it to use Nair or something similar. My shoulders and back are excessively hairy and I'd like to remove it myself, and shaving it causes too much irritation.

Although I understand the posters who are saying looks aren't everything, I think that it's good to want to look your best and take steps to achieve that goal.

Personally, I'm part-Italian, and it seems like the ONLY thing I got from that heritage is the dark body hair (but not a dark beard or dark hair on my head).

I use Nair for men on parts of my body that are hard to reach with a razor, since it's easier to use and doesn't need to be done as often.

I use either a razor or Nair on my upper arms, but mostly because I like to keep my tattooed areas smooth.

For some areas (chest/stomach) I use clippers with a guard, since I like SOME hair, but not overly thick/long hair.

As for your hands/fingers, I've found that most people don't really mind hair there (although my forearms/hands/fingers have decently light hair).

If you'd feel comfortable with the idea, check into going to a professional and getting hard to reach areas (back) waxed. It's something I'd like to do once I get more dependable income.

I agree that what is really is important is what is inside and what type of person you are. Superficiality is just that... superficial. Keep being a good person and that's the best ANYONE can be. By the by, trends go in and out so just wait 10 years or so and hirsute people will again be en vogue.

I'm not a hairy guy, and I have hair on my hands, fingers, feet toes and the entire rest of my body. All the guys I know have hair on their fingers and toes too. You're not alone, you just think you are.

I am almost sure that no one minds your hairs but you.It is not abnormal or ugly,or freakish to have hair all over.Everyone does,but if you really need it gone,Hot wax is painful,but only for a second,You can put it most anywhere,and it offers good results.No razor burn,no coarse stubble,no chemical rash,inexpensive and it lasts for weeks or months.

I feel the same way. I can't stand hair on my body at all. I want to do laser hair removal but it might not be as effective on dark skin. ( what I have read anyway.) there are lots of home remedies I was looking at a home electrolosys kit. Nair for men is a good one if it dosen't irritate your skin.

I know how you feel man, i am growing loads of hair on my upper chest and back, and am seriously considering lasering it, it bugs me that much.

I've had my back done three times. The results are neat, but the process sucks. I gave it up 'cause there wasn't any apparent point to it.

We're mammals! We have hair! You're gonna need to accept that eventually, cause it doesn't stop growing.

And a lot of chicks dig hairy guys. It's silverback syndrome, it shows you're a dominant male!

Hair on body = testosterone.
Some women DO like that, while many do not. Truthfully, if you feel obliged to drastically change your own body so people do not feel that you look strange (does it look like you are wearing a sweater?) that is truly your choice.

But I would recommend looking at how much it would cost and then, seriously, look at why it kills your self-esteem so much. You might find a cheeper way, deciding that you are fine as you are.

Don't worry. Most of us men get hairier (sp?) as we get older. I'd guess that most women are used to it or will get used to it.

Hah, we get hairier while the women get fatter.

Seriously though, if it bothers you, get rid of it. You only have so many years of youth left so why spend them like this. Reach your full potential now while you can because there's no point in having laser surgery done when you're 60 years old.

Just make sure you can afford it. A full body Lasik treatment here costs about $7,000 US and you have to do repeat visits for over a year.

Uh, Lasik is for eyes.

Dualman, I had my back done and I am so much happier now that I have had it removed with laser. Yeah, looks aren't everything, but feeling good about them counts for something. Yeah, I did it because society says "ick" to hairy backs, and I don't care for that. So I changed my looks, so what. Women wear makeup. Without it they look different, right? Why should you feel bad for removing something that you can change?
