Another (Slightly differant) drug test question
 

I just took my piss test for my new job I should be starting on June 1. Its been over 3 weeks since Ive smoked, and I drank a ton of water over the past two days.

Do they tell you you passed? If so when?

Im not really in any hurry to start smoking again, but a few parties this weekend, and when someone asks me if I want a hit, I want to know if I can say yes.

I have after all heard of places fucking up, and someone having to go back and retest.

IMO until they say Welcome aboard... you should refrain.

Why? because if you didn't pass, you'll have to go find another place for employment and have to screen yet again.

They told me welcome aboard already, I found that out before they ever sent me to test. Pretty much pending the test, I start June 1.

I'd still wait then because the welcome aboard while was spoken is predicated on passing the test.

if for whatever reason they want a redo you won't be ready. It's just a couple weeks.

and you can ask for the copies of the results, for "your records" doesn't hurt to ask.

They usually only tell the employer if the test was 'positive' for a substance.

On top of that, there are two tests that are done. A thin-layer chromatography (assuming its urine). That test has a HIGH limit, something like 30ng/dl. That's like if you've smoked in the last week or so. If you test 'pos' on that test, then they use a Gas-Chomatography/Mass Spec. This has an insanly LOW limit, like 2-5ng/dl. If you test 'pos' on that one, then they ruled out a false 'pos' and notify the employer.

If you test positive your employer wont notify you so you will be in the dark if that happens. There is no law that makes employers notify you if you failed to get hired due to failing a drug test.

So basically do whatever I want, because waiting isnt going to tell me anything?
