Unstoppable Oily Hair?

By the end of the day I can run my hands through my hair, and have it hold in almost any position I want. I wash my hair everytime I take a shower, which is usually every morning, but never less than once every two days. It seems that no matter what shampoo I use, I always have to use it twice. The first time the shampoo doesn't sud up at all, its like it gets diluted. Second time is the charm and suds up like normal.

So, anyone else have this problem? :hmm:

My hair tends to be very oily too. It doesn't usually get that bad in one day but by the morning of the next day I HAVE to wash it or it's terrible. I have helped the oil by using conditioner on my scalp as well as my ends. I think - what I heard was - the scalp gets dried out so the oil production gets cranked up. It produces lots of oil to compensate. If you moisturize the scalp and even use a moisturizing shampoo it helps calm things down. I can go two days without too much trouble if I'm using the moisturizing regularly.

Also, you could slow down your washing cycle. I used to wash my hair everyday resulting in a very dry scalp. The body then reacts by oiling it up. Try starting to wash them only every other day instead. The first few days can be disgusting since your body needs to adapt, but eventually it will produce less oil and you'l be able to last longer without washing.

do u you use products in your hair?

My hair can get oil pretty fast if I put something in it, but all I put in it now is a spray-on sculpting wax. I use moisturizing shampoo, as it will rebuild natural moisture, so your scalp and hair won't tend to get as oily. Also, use a conditioner for oily hair. Conditioning is a must- most won't weight your hair down, but put in the natural moisture that your hair needs.
Same goes for the face.

I used to have this problem. I was using conditioner/shampoo combos, or ONLY conditioner. My dad kept buying me conditioner, and me being like 11 or 12 at the time thought it was just an advanced shampoo. Now I've realized that even the shampoo/conditioner combos won't make my hair clean and/or less oily. I use Suave, and Suave only! It's the only shampoo that gets my hair 100% clean. Plus, it's $.99 a bottle.

I am the queen of oily hair. I CANT go a day without washing cause my roots get so very oily. What I find helps (and many many hair ressers have told me to do) is to just condition the ends of your hair (which tend to get more dried out). This liteally makes a HUGE difference for me.

I have to wash my hair daily otherwise it gets too oily. If you find yourself in a pinch and can't wash, try brushing a but of corn starch through your hair to absorb the oil. Just make sure that you give it time to absorb the oil, then brush it out completely.

Skipping conditioner is good, or buy a shampoo that strips your hair (it can be brutal if used every day but it will get oil out real fast) and for extreme cases, vinegar and shampoo works well.

Baby shampoo. 3 times a week.No conditioner if your hair is short.
Back to the basics.
