in this thread we talk about working out the chest
how often are we working the chest? ie what is your split? chest twice a week or three times a week and why? are you concentrating on incline and decline only most of the time? are you working chest with another muscle (tris)? for those trying to build a barrel chest, how many exercises are you devoting to chest. i am an experienced lifter and understand that nothing works exactly the same for any two lifters...thus, the plethora of questions. i look forward to some intelligent responses. thanks in advance.

When I do chest, I either do it with the Tri's and split upper body into push and pull days, or I do it with my back, depending on how i've changed my routine. I'll usually do pushups as a warm up, the bench press with dumbbells, incline press with bar (although i sometimes switch that to decline for a few weeks, alternating) and then the flye machine. i sometimes mix my tri workout in between the chest sets. i go for 5 sets of each exercise, with the first one being light, as a warm up, then i do two sets of 10-12, one set of 4-6, and then i lower the weight and try for as many as i can.

I would advise working the chest once every 5-7 days. Just because you feel sore doesn't mean your body isn't still growing. When you workout you destroy your muscles, then you rest and they overcompensate a little bit. If you workout too soon you miss out on the gains.

Once a week. Unless of course you've got some chemical assistance.
It helps to train everything else as well. Your body needs to be balanced. So much so that it will only allow parts of you to get so big unless other areas of your body are also developed. Monday night in the gym is always the same. Every clown that drank too much on the weekend is training chest. They seem to forget about their pencil thick legs. |

It varies I dont stay on the same workout for more than 8-10 weeks. At certain times I'll do a chest/tri workout other times I'll do Chest/bi workout (so I can lift and truly focus on tri's with heavy weight), and other times just chest by itself.
My favorite heavy chest workout is Warm up 50 pushups Inline Bench 8 reps, 8 reps, (move up in weight) 6, 4, 2 (75% of max), 2, 6 Flat Dumbell press 3 sets of 8 Weighted dips 3 x 8 Cable flys 2 x 15 moderate to light weight with slow contractions squeezing at the top But this changes for muscle confusion
