I'll be on the veranda, since you're on the cross.

As I understand it:
Bulking: Focus is on building up large, imposing looking muscles. Toning: Focus is on making muscles stronger, yet more dense and well defined/good looking. Conditioning: Training your body to extend your peak performance over longer periods of time, as opposed to training your body to exert its peak performance in short bursts. This is a very broad overview, but I hope it helps.

I have heard many fitness mags say that "toning" is a useless word. People refer to toning, and you are still building muscle. As said before that making muscle denser etc can be defined as toning. But wouldn't getting shredded, or ripped, meaning getting cut to a very low body fat be just as useful? Even if you were "bulky"? thats my opinion. I guess I agree with the magazines I have read. There are different things you can do to make the muscle more defined etc, try adding some supersets and what not to add striations and all that good stuff to your muscles.
My 2 cents.

How much muscle do you want to build?
Build a little, call it toned build a lot, call it bulk. Toned can also imply fat loss to bring out the shape of a little bit of muscle. bulking can also imply some fat gain to maximize the potential for strength and muscle building. |
