Clean your room, everyone.

I just cleaned my room. So?

"clean" is perhaps the wrong word. Moreso I "thoroughly revitalized" it. Somehow, just a few small boxes have left my room, and I have 10 times as much much space. Its translated to my head. I feel freer. Leave the floors and corners of the room empty. I can dance now. It is great. I am so happy.

Whenever I tell my friend to clean his apartment, he tells me "A cluttered space is a hallmark of creative genius!"
Needless to say, his place looks like a train wreck, and he's either a talented writer, or a lunatic, or both.
Myself, I prefer having a tidy room. It makes me think I have my shit together.

When a house is too nice and tidy, it freaks me out. It makes me feel really weird...I don't like it when people go out of their way to clean their house when they're expecting company. I'm not saying a house should look like a landfill, but at least let it look like someone actually lives there, as opposed to some sort of cleaning supply expo.

But yeah, the missus and I have been doing some springcleaning, and it's good...

I like having a clean room. But I think my main problem right now is I have too much junk. I need to make a major donation run .
Normally if I am depressed, I like clean my room. Lots of times it helps me feel better.

Most definitely...the house always benefits if I'm sad or pissed off.

Wow. That's so interesting... My wife's friend was apparently doing a lot of cleaning one day, she had broken up with her boyfriend recently, and the cleaning frenzy in itself tipped my wife off to the fact that she wasn't feeling well. I've heard this before, that when women feel bad emotionally, they clean. I thought it was bullshit... I stand corrected.

When I feel bad, though, I cuss and kick things.

I gotta clean everyday. Having children gives a continuous cleaning ritual. I swear, I sweep/mop/vacuum and pick up, within 12 hours it's back to the way it was.

I just cleaned my room, bout damn time too! Up until Sunday, it was a disaster area, now it freaks me out to go in my room, everything is put away, the bed is made, the sheets aren't wrinkled. I give it a month before its back to what it was...

Cluttered and clean are different.

My room is pretty dark and cluttered. I have lots of things hanging down and dividing it up, and so it feels very comfortable, cozy, warm.

But when it comes to little knick knacks... there are not too many, and everything is organized and in plain vieww... easy to get to what you want.

But... I did keep the floor and corners open. One thing I read from Fung Shwea (sp?) was to keep the corners clear. Feels great.

Yeah, the basement is next.

I'm also in the boat of when I'm nervous, I clean. Busy hands don't always lead to distracting the mind, but it does at least make me feel like I'm doing something to keep myself occupied.

I should clean. From my computer desk, I can only see the top 4 inches of my closet door, including the frame/molding. I've taken 7 30-gallon trash bags full of crap out, and the pile just doesn't seem to go down at all.

same here. I'm all about clean and organized, just too lazy to make things that way Nonetheless, when I do clean, it's great cause it makes everything seem so nice

your wife has my attitude. i hate to be told what to do.

our house kinda depresses me atm.
we're doing a complete kitchen remodel & it's a dinky house, so there's boxes & stuff crammed everywhere, which makes it difficult to thoroughly clean.

plus the kitchen floor will be the last step, so we're walking on plywood floors & keeping the dog hair swept up is a royal pain since the wood is rough & the dog hair sticks to it.

i can't wait to have a clean house with everything in its place again.

I'm REALLY bad about cleaning up. I just consider it a trivial waste of time compared to other things I can occupy myself with.

I pretty much only clean up when I'm having having people over, or I'm so drunk that I don't mind it. It's kind of weird waking up with a vicious hangover and a spotless house.

I assume she only said that because you don't help with the housework? If that's the case I don't blame her for saying that. You should both share in the load of the housework; it's only fair.

My room is tidy at times and messy at times...when I clean it, I'll make it as spiffy-clean as I can. Once I clean it though, I put minimal effort to keep it spotless, thus letting it get messy after awhile.

I do that too! Several times my roommates have come home to find me trashed and washing dishes like a madman. They think I'm crazy.

Hmm... no clean bowls... time to get trashed again I think...

I dont bother. If I spend hours cleaning my room it will just get trashed after a few weeks. Whenever I feel the room is uncomfortable, I just look outside the window.

Actually, her tolerance for clutter is less than mine, but her cleaning skills and attention to detail are not as good as mine. So she will want to clean, but it is me who really gets things scrubbed down. Consequently, I am the one who does the bathrooms and floors. Half the time, she does not even check the vacumn bag and the thing is stuffed with dog hair.

Hell, keep the important part of your room clean ( the computer and desk area) . Keep your bed as a bed, I store blankets on the other half of it since it's a queen. Then I just push shit to the side and call it good. Vaccuum it now and then and thats about it.
