CBC?
Recovering from the cold wasn't any better, although the sore throat and the nose running gotten better. But somehow, between Friday night and Saturday night, my chest hurted like fuck and it just hurted to breath. I speculated that it might be just fluid in my lung or it was a side effect of the asiprin but I'm no doctor. So, I went to one Sat afternoon and he concluded that it was either:
A. I had a heart attack. B. I pulled my lung muscle while coughing. So, having a heart attack seems a little unrealistic for somebody my age but on the other hand, if I coughed so hard while I was sleeping, surely I would have woke up from coughing, if not from the pain of pulling a muscle but I didn't. So, the doc told me to go to a radiologist to get a xray and something called CBC. I heard of CBC on ER but I don't have a clue as to what it is. What is CBC? |

omg I've had the same thing as you before, on several occasions. Usually they would go away in 5-10 min. and it wasn't a frequent occurance which is why I never consulted a doctor on it. However, I'm interested to know your feedback, so best of luck!

CBC = complete blood count. Basically it gives you a break down of your bllod profile. Form this lab value, you can determine if someone is anemic, or has an elevated white blood count suggestive of inflammation.
I don't know your age, or have a good grasp of your history. However, chest pain with breathing especially with recent episode of cough, sore throat is most likely either pneumonia, pneumonitis, costochondritis, or rib fracture. A chest X-Ray from a radiologist would certainly help elucidate or at least narrow down the possible list of problems listed. |
Last time I got a cold it got to the point where it hurt to breathe - I just had developed Bronchitis. I got a steroid inhaler and was fine in two days.
Hubby's had chest pain more than once. Dr's said it wsa heartburn, pulled muscle, etc and passed it off. Finally he found a Dr who diagnosed him with excercise induced asthma. If nothing comes of the CBC and X-ray I'd get another opinion. Ask about the bronchitis possibility even. Can't hurt to ask. |
Oops, thought you were talking about the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
Hope everyone's ok! |
