Where can I get a good cheap futon online? I might just buy the frame online as I dont really know if I could buy a matress without sitting on it first.

Just go to WalMart and get one of the cheap $100 futons. Not overly comfortable, but great for a dorm room or small apartment

I would go somewhere to try the different mattresses out. We have 2 futons, each with different mattress. There is one with a foam core, but it tends to go flat faster. I would go double or triple.
Purchasing the frame online, I would just search. Try America the Beautiful Dreamer or Ultimatefuntons.com

If you go to Wal-Mart spring for the $150 futon. Its way more comfortable, and looks a hell of a lot nicer too. As someone who got a sore back sleeping on the cheap-ass futon last year, its definitly worth it.

maybe try ikea... really cheap stuff and good quality... they range from 140 to 400 on the site...
