GED testing varies from state to state.

what state are you in?

I know plenty of people who have dropped out of high school and got their GED. A few of them make a good living, some still hover in the low hourly wages, but all of them are making an honest living.

IMHO, you should reach out to some of those departments in the link that I provided in an earlier post. Waiting for someone to tell you from here, "i trying to find out is there a lvl of gradeschool or highschool i need to know" doesn't make any difference since if you want to better yourself, you'll still need to do the whole GED thing anyways. In fact that question, I'm sure could be answered by someone there.

and as to "getting the ball rolling real soon" what are you still waiting for? time is ticking and you don't know just how long this is going to take you to complete.

Go to your local book store and get a GED test. Preferably something by Princton review (I like 'em). They give you information on what you need to do to take the GED. They will also give you lots and lots of practice. Take a few practice tests to find out what you need to study up on.

Edit: Crap... turned GRE into GED. Sorry.

Anyone making fun of you for this situation would be a moron. Not knowing stuff is never shameful - having no desire to learn it is what is shameful. You clearly want to learn it, so you get a lot of respect in my book.

Good luck, and get ready to work very hard. It won't be as quick as you want it to be, but it will be worth it in the end.

If you need help.....ask your community, wait, we are a community. Perhaps we could help with your studies as there are many overly educated individuals that post here.
Maybe even start a Jacobmen sticky in tilted knowledge and go from there. My largest knowledge base is in English and theoretical sciences, if I can be of help simply ask.

Your best bet is probably community college. It is fairly cheap. Where do you work that pays $8.50, thats a pretty decent wage. Continued on my current climb of my promotional ladder i'll be getting paid that in 20 years according to the math.

Also you might look up your local public school system and talk to the counselors at the high schools or give the local school board a call and see if they offer night school or any type of alternative school program. If not they should be able to point you in a direction as to where you might be able to go for GED assistance. Good luck and don't get discouraged if you ever need some support know that there are people out and around here teady to cheer you on.

Try to get into a GED course, it doesn't matter if you don't think you know enough to do it. I'm sure they will be more than willing to help you out until you know enough to pass. After that you could attend a local community college for not much money to continue your education and get a better job.
