Wow, good luck.
A girl I know had dreads for a while...then ended up shaving her head because they got messed up, or she didn't like them...or something. Anyway, she looks really cute with a shaved head, too. But yeah...you should post pics when you get them done. I don't know anything about them, but they're really cool looking and I say "Rock on, Eviltree"

I like dreads, don't think I'm gutsy enough to do it myself. A girl I know had dreads for 5 yrs, she just cut them off the other day. She likes her hair a lot better now.

Im not really partial to dreads, but its a very creative outlet for people. On any race really. I like it when they have little trinkets in their hair that they want to keep with them..like a pendant or a memoire of something, though it does look rather messy and dirty.

go for it!
im planning on getting my hair knotted up (about 8 inches now, blonde and curley) the day after my last day of school so i can walk across the stage on graduation with them. i go to an uptight catholic highschool and probably have the longest hair on a guy they have ever seen, so hopefully it will leave a lasting impression on the faculty ![]()

Well, I got them, although can't seem to find a digital camera (what the hell is up with that anyway?) They turned out better than I thought they would, but I'm not quite sure how to wax them to keep them good. Since they are new, they are sticking straight up and out, it looks pretty crazy.

Sorry about the non-elaboration:
"true" dreadlocks are the actual knotting of your hair. "Natural" ways of dreadlocking is just washing your hair, not conditioning or anything, and letting it come together. There are other methods like backcombing and things that you can use. I dunno, there are dreadlock snobs who dont' seem to think those ways are acceptable .. but who knows. Anyways, wax sticks around in your hair FOREVER. Like, its disgusting. It can mold, and be gross. I guess its a good solution if you want to start your dreads quickly and not have to wait for them to lock up. However, I cut my boyfriend's dreadlocks in September, and he used a pencil-eraser sized thing of wax .. and it was in his hair still. It looked absolutely disgusting .. (this was after 9 months or something like that). So I dunno, if you're not worried about the wax, go for it. I just was snobbed up by my natural-dread sporting boyfriend awhile ago.. Good luck with them! And post a picture. |
