What to do in St. John V.I.?

I got talked into going to St.john in the virgin islands for spring break(my uncle lives there so i get a free house to stay in). Since it seems like a rural area does anybody know what I can do for fun down there besides sailing or snorkling?
I appreciate any replies to this thread.

Heh... oops! I thought you may have been talking about Saint John or St. John's (both in Canada). Be glad you're going to the V.I, it's bloody cold up here :D

Talked into it?!? shit, wouldn't have to ask me twice. Those islands are great!! Have a great time!

St. John is probably the best of the U.S.V.I. by the sound of things. I've only been to the B.V.I's and I'd imagine that St. John would be the closest match to them because it's not as built up. Besides sailing and snorkling which are both great, especially the sailing, scuba's great, a lot better than snorkling in my opinion. It looks like theres a great national park there to check out. And if all that's not enough, I recommend Rum. It's cheaper than mix there and reallllly good stuff.

You are one of the largest fools I've come across on this forum! You were "talked into" going!? The vi's are absolutely amazing. I can't believe you uncle has a house there. It's definitely one of the smaller island, being just off of St. Thomas (you can easily see them from eachother).
Not sure what to do though. I stayed at a little exclusive resort called the Caneel Bay, maybe you can drop in. I did some great scuba diving, one trip which was a night dive more towards St. Thomas. You can get trained easily in a day in a rush private course. You'd be a fool if you skipped out on this!
I'd say the other best thing would be to relax. That part of the Carribbean is pretty relaxed. Go to St. Thomas for shopping and all. Go to St. John to take it easy IMO. Just go walking and get lost one day.
Enjoy!

well maybe "talked into" isn't the best way to put it. It's just that I had other options on places to go that would be a little cheaper. Even though I talked myself into going it does sound like somebody else did it so sorry for the confusion and bad wording.

Wish I was going there tomorrow. Most of my family's sailing in the BVI's right now.

and if you get your pic on their site, tell us!

kulrblind 03-01-2004 06:48 AM

...and take lots of pictures to show us! Especially the Canadians among us who are buried in 4 feet of snow :D

Woody's is a great place but there are better places on St. Thomas. Tickle's in Crown Bay. Duffy's Love Shack in Red Hook to name a couple. Jost Van Dyke is worth a try. So is Peter Island but you'll need to rent a boat to do that. Water Island is great and getting there is pretty easy via the Kon Tiki Glass Bottom boat.
