Apples>Coffee to keep awake?
a guy told me that apples help u keep awake better than coffee...is it true coz i really need it?
if so why? any medical reason? |
Uh, I am not sure, but it sounds like ... weird. If its not true, which I think that it is not, then it makes sense. But if it is.. weird shit!
It almost seems too random to NOT make sense, but then again. |
Ice cold milk will keep you awake. A nice cup of chai will too.
|
apples are great. i don't know about keeping one awake because i haven't used them enough to tell, but they definitely give a kick. i believe it's because they are sugar rich, and in fact you can use any fruit for this purpose.

I read awhile back about some study done that just the action of eating an apple will provide as much of a pick-me-up as a cup of coffee will via caffeine. I can't remember where or anything else of it, so take it as you will...

Ice-Cubes in your pants will do the trick.
|
I also have found that eating anything with a strong flavor (e.g. several altoids at once) can help as a pick-me-up when dozing in class is imminent.
|
My Apple iMac used to keep me up all night, but it started having monitor problems. :(
It's the sugar. A lot of it is as the monosaccharide fructose, so it can go straight from your stomach lining to the bloodstream in few minutes to fuel those tired cells. Sucrose (table sugar) is a disaccharide and must be processed first, taken 30 minutes to an hour before it is ready. |
yep. My father (a doctor) passed me an article saying that an apple will wake you up more than coffee will, because of the sugars and because the chewing action wakes you up somehow. Sorry I can't be more specific, it was a while ago. But I am a firm believer in it, and I take an apple with me every morning to eat on the way to class and it works great!
|
I agree that the act of eating the apple is what wakes you up... you concentrate on chewing, maybe the apple's a little sour and you squint, and of course the sugar helps as well.

i get soooo sleepy in class that my eyes start acting on their own...they dont look straight(like a chameloens)
one eye is looking to the left and other is looking up...next thing i know the prof is telling me to wake up :( |
