George Mason is awesome. I go to UMD, but I have a lot of friends that go to Mason. They are the coolest people ever. Everyone there just seems really friendly, not like at UMD. Every time I've been there I've had a blast. It's also a great school academicaly, and right near DC where you can have a lot of fun.
Congrats, it's a great school!

I've lived near it practically my whole life. My father went there, my sister went there, and my girlfriend goes there now.....the area is good, academically speaking its decent (some say its good, some say its not), and the women.....oh my oh my...the women are soooo fine in this area. But keep in mind its a commuter school....so there aren't really many "ragers" if thats your sort of thing. Parties are usually small in the dorm rooms ..... but there are plenty of things to do in this area. I mean shit, DC is about a 20-25 minute drive from Mason.
Tell me what you are majoring in, and I can ask her or some of her friends if they know anything about the program or if you have any other questions I can ask the better half. p.s. I downloaded one of your sets from your website a couple of days ago.....good stuff. edit: Ooops! I was talking about George Mason up there ^ Last edited by Jim Kata; 02-03-2004 at 09:57 AM.. |

Depends on what you plan on majoring in... Go with the school whose program your interested in is stronger.
BTW -- As a DC area resident I've got to say its a pretty good time down here. Plenty of things to do, with most of them not requiring a bunch of money. Feel free to PM me with any questions about here. Good luck.

Don't know much about Marist, but like Jim Kata I lived near GM (two miles away) for 10 years. Fairfax is not a college town, and you aren't going to get that "state school party experience" at GM. Jim Kata is right - it is really a commuter school. On the other hand, they have been building nice new facilities for about ten years, so the campus looks great, and you'll almost certainly have great stuff to use. If you are into the performing arts, the DC area can be great...

Mason is a very good school and as a side light the arena there has tons of great concerts that you can get discounted admission to. I too went to a commuter school and that was my only regret about college. Generally fully residential schhols have a bigger party scene but that is a only a small part of college.
Good luck and most importantly have fun ( and study hard so you can get a good job yadda, yadda, yadda.)

George Mason was my great grandfathers name
Well.... how do you take winters? Winters in New York can be harsh. ( I'm blanking on which area, Poughkeepsie maybe?) It's snowing right now in Albany... Winters in Virginia can be very mild. Well, at least where I was in Southern Virginia. Hell, that didn't help much at all!! Good luck
