Losing weight = losing fat ?

I'm still on my plan to get in shape 'til summer, so I've changed my nutrition. Still only slightly, but I'm already losing weight.

Since the weather outside is damn poor, I can't do any running and cardio-stuff, just working out every night at home.

now I've got 2 questions:

1) Is losing weight equal to losing fat ?

2) If, as I guess not, how do I best burn fat considering I've got only the house at the moment ?

When losing weight, you'll most likely a few pounds of water weight. After that, if you keep lifting, you'll lose mostly fat, but you will lose muscle as well. Just keep working out, eat enough protein and you'll reduce the amount of muscle that you'll lose. It's almost impossible to lose weight without losing any muscle along with all the fat. Good Luck!

Losing only fat is tricky. You need to be very aware of your daily macronutrient intakes, eat a proper post workout meal (can't stress how important this is), as well as not overdue cardio. You will have to find what works best for you because we all are different and different things will work more optimally for us. The key is to find the point in which you are losing 1-2 lbs a week at the most to ensure you are only getting rid of fat and not precious muscle. Keep your protein intake very high right now (at least 1 gram per lb of bodyweight per day).

thx for the info so far, but I heard that one shouldn't eat for about 2 hrs after workout, is that completely wrong ?

Yes it is so innacurate I would like to know your source. Aside from your breakfast, your post workout meal is the most important meal of the day not to neglect. Protein & Carbs are important to have right after working out in order to keep your body from eating your muscles (you are refueling them). Whey protein + water and 1/3 cup of oatmeal would be a great post workout meal for somebody losing fat. After that, make sure to eat about 2 hours afterwards.

Remember, right now you are wanting to eat more often then usual with more regulated portions.

Not saying it is right, but I have also read not to eat for two hours before or after you workout. That is in several diet books/magazines. They say it makes you burn the fat first, which is why a lot of times the say you should work out first thing in the morning. Again, I am not saying it is correct, just validating that the info is out there.

Ya, it is incorrect . If you don't care about muscle loss, then feel free not to eat before or after you workout (lifting weights).

As far as cardio, I have heard some people claim that you will target fat burn quicker by not eating before your morning workout, and to this day people still argue back and forth over which is true. It will be up to you to reasearch this more and form your own opinion. Personally when fatloss is my goal, I still eat a little carb and protein an hour before my sessions.

Exercise nutrition is a continually changing field because it is relatively new and because different people's bodies react differently to things. As far as the post workout meal, well that is extremely important.

Losing fat will be take time. The issue with a lot of people is being consistent with there routine. There are a lot of people who try those diets, but when you want to eat normal again , you gain all that weight back. Stick with working out and trying to eat as healthly as you can and you will lose the fat.

losing weight is pointless, you can go in a sauna for 5 hours and lose 10 lbs. Losing fat is what matters and is healthy.
