I have a few, but I kind of like them.
|
My wife has some, and I have some due to my weight going up and down. I don't care one way or another.
|
the only people i know who have them is big body builders who gained too much muscle mass too fast in "unnatural" ways
|
Just part of life, like little blue veins on your legs -- something else to look forward to.

I have them all over. My doctor's diagnosis is that I got too tall, too fast. They're a part of life, and if someone has them I understand that it's not something that can be controlled easily. I see a lot of people my age who wear revealing clothing and have them a bit on the lower back and on the sides of their breasts. They do fade over time, so don't worry too much. If you want to, talk to a dermatologist. He can give you some cream (12% ammonimu lactate if you want to research it yourself) to put on the marks that will fade them more completely than cocoa butter formulas will.
Sunless tanning foams like Neutrogena's new line of tanning foam can cover them up so that they aren't noticable at a glance or from more than a couple of feet away. |
I have stretch marks along my chest and on my back, mainly because I was overweight for a while and got a few and then I lost like 60 pounds in 5 months but naturally and the body had to adjust and I got a few more. Honestly, they really shouldnt bother you, most of mine have faded and you can bearly see em unless you look real close they take about a year but I really cant see why they would be very annoying.
However, I will admit that when they started appearing I was freaking out because I thought I had a disease and my blood vessels were popping out,I was happily wrong, but stretch marks do no harm and you cant do much to stop em easiest to just live with them. However, If you really want to do the best job removing them that you can then I advise you use the cream MSD recommended because as I understand it works pretty well. |
As far as I know, the link that bermuDa posted covers all the legit ways of reducing or eliminating them.
I'm curious about the massage technique on that site, and may try it out in the future. However, my plan for covering my stretchmarks involves ink, some needles, and a tattoo artist. Once I reach my current weight goals, I plan on having a very competent artist color some marks on my stomach and back flesh-tones (I've seen it used on large scars very effectively) while the ones on my sides are going to be covered by fairly large tribal pieces. It's a combination of hiding something that I truly dislike about my body while adding something that I find beautiful. It should also add interest for anyone that will get "the honor" :) of seeing me shirtless (at least by the time I reach my goals it'll be an honor...now it's a blinding collision of pasty paleness and lethargicly-induced largeness). Large tattoos aren't for everyone, but they fit my image, and have a more or less guaranteed success rate. |

I gained 40 lbs of mass in 4 months when i was a sophmore in high school.... those were the days... |
i like em... they feel cool, and since i started losing my pasty nerd look they arent so bad
|
They're a bit annoying. I have them on my arms, from back when I was actually an active teenager. :D
It was suggested that I try some Vitamin E cream to try and reduce them. I did it for a while and it did improve them some. So if you're into that sort of thing, go for it. |
Great tips all of you, gonna have to try some. Thank ya.

Vitamin E oil helps get rid of all scares such as acne scars, stretch amrks etc. I had stretch marks on my back because of muscle gain, but the E oil reduced them.

mederma. look it up
|
I have them on my biceps, as my muscles grew far faster than my skin.
Apparently, I bulked up so fast that my biceps look like a highway atlas (it's kinda gross, but what are you gonna do?). Some girls cringe when they see 'em, but ah well. |
I have quite a few around my belly and hips from pregnancy. With baby I gained 60 lbs and then lost it all in about 9 mo after she was born. It's been 3 1/2 years now. I'm seeing my C-section scar and the stretch marks all fade pretty quickly now. Just take care of your skin and eat right they will improve. I have heard that taking Vitamin E will help some too. Most of the creams - Mederma, Vit K, Vit E all are Supposed to work early on. At this point I don't think they would have a significant effect. I'm just used to them. As long as I'm healthy why should anyone criticise?
