Wheatgrass?
I'm not much into health foods, but I try to eat generally healthy. I know I'm not getting enough vegetables.
So, I'm watching the QE/SG episode with the videojockey, and they casually mention that one ounce of wheatgrass juice is nutritionally equivalent to 1.7 pounds of fresh vegetables, or something like that. Wow! So, is this serious? I googled a bit, but the sites all wanted to sell me something, and I don't know how much I trust them. Also, I don't want to have to grow the stuff and juice it myself. Are the pills or bottled juices good enough? |

I have heard the same thing. It certainly tastes like it could be...blech. I have never seen it for sale in bottles or pills, but most juice bars in my area sell it in shots pretty cheap. Also, the good supermarkets tend to carry it in the produce isles, so you wouldn't need to grow it yourself, just juice it.

<-- used to work in a health food store...with a juicebar.
shots are the way to go, imo. (and yes it tastes like freshly-mowed lawn) to juice it yourself you need a good juicer with a wheatgrass attatchment. so unless you already have a juicer, not worth it. (or, i just checked that link, perhaps a cheaper juicer for it is an option?) anyways, try it from a juicebar a few times at least. i always felt like it made my body happy when i took it. not cheap, and i wouldn't believe *all* the _hype_ but i think it is valid for some things. ![]()

I used to work at a smoothie king (they sell that kind of stuff there) and speaking from experience: Wheatgrass is kickass. Not only is the pounds of veggies equaling one shot of wheatgrass a good quality, it also can be used as a cure-all. If I ever feel sick (excluding being nausious) I take a double shot of wheatgrass every day till I get back to normal, it really speeds the healing process and doesent allow me to get as sick as I normally would, no shit. For example if I ever feel a sore throat coming on (you know that first day where it feels kinda scratchy) I take a double shot of wheatgrass and feel normal the next day. If I ignore the sore throat, it gets worse and I have to take more wheatgrass over a longer period of time. Check it out, dont take my word for it.
