I can't believe everyone hates LA...you guys are crazy. It's not the best city in the world for tourists I admit, but come on, this is extreme. I could name 30 cities in California alone that are worse. I liked LA from the first time I ever came here, even more than San Francisco the first time, though if you gave me the option of where to live/visit now it would be SF. Partly because I realized how great SF is and partly because I've already been here and done that, not because I like LA less.
PS here's my list Loved: LA San Francisco New York Hated: Atlanta New Orleans Cleveland Havent done much foreign travelling, to the Caribbean and Mexico mostly, but when I finally get to Europe I know I will love London and Amsterdam. Last edited by n0nsensical; 07-27-2004 at 12:35 AM.. |

I wonder if all those who love Manhattan don't live there? I live around there and personally I hate it. Also did all the Vegas haters lose money?
Love and Like San Francisco - beautiful town, enjoyed my time there Las Vegas - what can I say.. its VEGAS Miami - South Beach is off the hook Hate or Don't like too much-- Manhattan - too much traffic, been there done that. Detroit - boring, nothing interesting Orlando and the rest of florida - too many hurricanes, traffic and weather not to my liking Wash, DC - too much traffic, other than one street not much to do. Can't even tour the damn White House anymore. Dominican Republic - This country is in bad shape economically and it shows. the roads are rediculous, the power goes out constantly, the beaches aren't that great and overcrowded. Atleast the people are really nice though and plenty of women who don't speak english for the taking Last edited by Delirious; 09-07-2004 at 04:14 AM.. |

- San Diego, CA, USA (Beautiful beaches, great people!) - Vancouver, BC, Canada (Beautiful city, beautiful mountains, wonderful people!!) - Denver, CO, USA (Love it) - Montevideo, Uruguay (Anywhere you can take a ball onto the street and start kicking it around, and kids start pouring out of the buildings to play with you I love!) Hate - Newcastle, WY, USA (Long story!!) - Colorado Springs, CO, USA (Beautiful mountains, Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, and so much more, but I'd rather be in a small mountain town for such things and away from the super religious conservatives!) - Salt Lake City, UT, USA (pretty much the same reason as above) |

Hooray for being bored at work.
Well, here's the Top Ten Best/Worst so far, according to my count (may be off a bit). Most Loved Cities 1. New York City, NY - 22 2. San Francisco, CA - 14 3. Paris, France - 10 4. Vancouver, BC, Canada - 9 4. San Diego, CA - 9 6. Boston, MA - 8 6. London, England - 8 6. Amsterdam, Holland - 8 9. Seattle, WA - 7 9. Chicago, IL - 7 Most Disliked Cities 1. Los Angeles, CA - 19 2. Washington DC - 8 2. Houston, TX - 8 4. Detroit, MI - 7 5. Boston, MA - 6 6. Las Vegas, NV - 5 6. Atlanta, GA - 5 6. Fresno, CA - 5 6. London, England - 5 I only did top 9 for Disliked. Being from Colorado was very happy to see Crested Butte, and Durango on the list (love both of those towns). Surprised to see Los Angeles so hated on, but have never been there so cannot judge. I am still young, but I need to do SO much more travelling! |

Love:
1) Portland, OR lush, green, lively environment... No extreme weather like the rest of the US... clean air, easy driving... within ONE HOUR from the beach, fishing, hiking, skiing, lakes of plenty, the great outdoors!... The rain during the winter gets a bit tiring, but it's better than the deep freeze or the muggy heat of the east and the insane heat of the south. 2) Seattle San Juan Island, fisherman's warf, close to the mountains 3) San Francisco/Vancouver B.C. (tie) Great eats and lot's of entertainment Hate (would never want to live in...) 1) L.A. 2) Atlanta 3) Sacramento, CA |

Liked:
Saratoga, California: short drive from Stanford and Villa Montavo, some of the best weather in the world, wonderful people Marseilles, France: If you can fake being a local, and can get past the crime, it is possibly the most beautiful place on the planet. La Paz, Peru: taught music and english there for about a year. Within driving distance from Lake Titicaca, the perfect lake, in my opinnion, and more rich with cultural heritage than any place I've ever been. Worst: Sacramento, CA: Recently, a lot of people from my area (San Francisco bay area) have moved to sacramento because of higher real estate prices here, and such low prices ther. Let me warn you: there is a reason for the price drop. The place is depressing. Everyone seems to have layed back and taken mediocrity, and the weather is either unbearably hot, or grey. Fresno, CA: see Sacramento, and put Fresno in the place where it said Sacramento. Paris, France: I've never been to a city of such opposites. The city itself is beautiful, but the Paritians make it unbearable for Americans. I've been to Paris probably some six or seven times. Each time I have had an incodent or several incodents with the local people treating me like crap because I can't cover up my American accent. Not worth it to me. |
