New York City (It's got everything)
Wallingford, CT. (It's got my house)

Hate:
Paris (Two middle aged women ruined this place for me. Plus it looks pretty shitty when you aren't in the right areas.)
Paris (Because I thought I was going to get with one of the girls on the tour...and didn't)
Paris (Because I walked all the way up and down that piece of shit Eiffel Tower, only to have to go home in the pouring rain because there was a 4 hour line and I didn't have time to wait. Then all of the pictures came out blurry.)

Paris sucks.

You're a very strange man... :)

Loves:

Poland, Ohio <--- The town, NOT the people.
Myrtle Beach, SC <--- Sure there is traffic, but been going for years and years and years.
North Springfield, PA <--- Where a summer camp I goto is located, awesome place, boring, but quiet, nice.

Hates:

Myrtle Beach, SC <--- Been going too many years! Too much traffic, waaaay too many people.
Poland, Ohio <--- I hate the people in this town! Unless they're kinda poor, which makes them nice and not yuppies.

Paris. Good public transit system, friendly to artists (Montmartre is a great place to spend the day, Louvre rocks), beautiful city. And Parisians aren't necessarily rude, they just have a different concept of personal space than most people.

Hated:

Most loved big cities that i have been to

-Washington, D.C. - gets all those proud to be an American juices flowin
-Los Angeles - my "hometown" even though i live about 30 miles away
-San Diego - just got that perfect weather and not a ton of people

Most nonloved big cities that i have been to

-San Francisco - i do not know what it was, but i could not stand it there
-Orlando - maybe because disney practically owns it and i hate disney
-Chicago - even though i actually did not go into the city i spent 11 -12 straight hours in that damn airport because of the weather

cities i would very much like to visit

-basically any ski resort town in colorado for one reason - big mountain snow
-Eugene, OR - the adopted home town of one of heroes - Pre.
-Vancouver or other Canadien cities - would like to visit some of my heritage and see some real hockey fans

also i think the most loved/hated should be narrowed down to only cities you have been to

I also know where all of these cities are too! (yay for geography skills!) Morganton has nothing going on for it, except the exit for hightway 64 and the nc school of the deaf (which is a really pretty building) Boone is too full of hippies and yuppies and skiers and little old laides who are over from Blowing Rock, but i grew up just north of Boone so i'm biased. I went to boarding school in Durham at NCSSM and hated it too- too big, too many seedy people, too much concrete, too hot. CHarlotte isn't that bad if you're in downtown- Martel and I had a wonderful weekend there last year and went to the two locations of the Mint Museum.

My List:

LOVE:

Asheville NC -(i live here, such a good vibe, so much to do, cool downtown, great outdoors stuff, real estate is a little high but other than that there's so many interesting people!)

Wrightsville Beach NC- I love the beaches, and the houses, and the people, and the shopping in the surrounding areas!

Palm Beach, Fla- So sunny and clean and all about some stucco! I love the big ritzy houses and the spanish inspired archetecutre and all the Flordia sunshine!

London- Soooo Faboo! i loved how BIG it was but every street felt intimate and everything was so interconnected. I also loved how OLD everything was! the city had such caracter!

Bath- all the Roman stuff and the old buildings and the green.... basically, i LOVE england!!!

REALLY COULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT:

Winston-Salem, NC- gritty, sprawling, ugly, commercial, and not very interesting on top of everything

Durham NC- see aforementioned reasons. There's maybe three pretty things about the whole city- NCSSM, the neighborhood to one direction where all the teachers live, and the Duke campus. There was a drug bust at a house across the street from my boarding school one night when we were playing capture the flag on the lawns- riot gear, gunshots, the works. we quickly decided to go play something else!

I really need to get out more.... Tho i do know a lot about my home state!

Grasshopper Green 02-09-2005 10:15 AM

Awwwwww Sage, I lived in NC for four years and I miss it. Never been to Winston-Salem but been to Raleigh and Durham many times. And I have to agree with the England thing; I loved every minute I spent there, it was amazing!

I'm curious to the love-hate relationship you have to London. Care to enlighten me why it made it to bothe your lists? :)

the-wangster 02-18-2005 04:55 PM

London is my home city and holds an exciting atomsphere whenever I am there. However I hate it for it's crop of shallow minded grey people who have no interest in culture. I hope this has explained such my opinion.

It did. I live in Stockholm and have the same relationship to it. As Smith said in Matrix, I must get out! Atleast once a quarter, otherwise I go NUTS! :)
