I wonder if all those who love Manhattan don't live there? I live around there and personally I hate it. Also did all the Vegas haters lose money? :)
Love and Like San Francisco - beautiful town, enjoyed my time there Las Vegas - what can I say.. its VEGAS Miami - South Beach is off the hook Hate or Don't like too much-- Manhattan - too much traffic, been there done that. Detroit - boring, nothing interesting Orlando and the rest of florida - too many hurricanes, traffic and weather not to my liking Wash, DC - too much traffic, other than one street not much to do. Can't even tour the damn White House anymore. Dominican Republic - This country is in bad shape economically and it shows. the roads are rediculous, the power goes out constantly, the beaches aren't that great and overcrowded. Atleast the people are really nice though and plenty of women who don't speak english for the taking :) |
Would someone like to compile a "top three" list of most liked and hated ? Or maybe just total up all city votes.
|
Love
- San Diego, CA, USA (Beautiful beaches, great people!) - Vancouver, BC, Canada (Beautiful city, beautiful mountains, wonderful people!!) - Denver, CO, USA (Love it) - Montevideo, Uruguay (Anywhere you can take a ball onto the street and start kicking it around, and kids start pouring out of the buildings to play with you I love!) Hate - Newcastle, WY, USA (Long story!!) - Colorado Springs, CO, USA (Beautiful mountains, Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, and so much more, but I'd rather be in a small mountain town for such things and away from the super religious conservatives!) - Salt Lake City, UT, USA (pretty much the same reason as above) |

most loved (thus far)
new york city sydney, Aus tokyo, JP like Barcelona Hong Kong London Seattle, WA not the biggest fan of: atlanta, GA Washington DC Philadelphia, PA The island of Guam (beautiful beaches, but no life no culture) could do without newark, NJ |
Liked:
1. Lynchburg, TN 2. Edinuburgh, Scotland 3. Philadelphia Disliked: 1. Birmingham, Alabama 2. Ocho Rios, Jamaica 3. York, England |
Love:
1) Portland, OR lush, green, lively environment... No extreme weather like the rest of the US... clean air, easy driving... within ONE HOUR from the beach, fishing, hiking, skiing, lakes of plenty, the great outdoors!... The rain during the winter gets a bit tiring, but it's better than the deep freeze or the muggy heat of the east and the insane heat of the south. 2) Seattle San Juan Island, fisherman's warf, close to the mountains 3) San Francisco/Vancouver B.C. (tie) Great eats and lot's of entertainment Hate (would never want to live in...) 1) L.A. 2) Atlanta 3) Sacramento, CA |
Liked:
Saratoga, California: short drive from Stanford and Villa Montavo, some of the best weather in the world, wonderful people Marseilles, France: If you can fake being a local, and can get past the crime, it is possibly the most beautiful place on the planet. La Paz, Peru: taught music and english there for about a year. Within driving distance from Lake Titicaca, the perfect lake, in my opinnion, and more rich with cultural heritage than any place I've ever been. Worst: Sacramento, CA: Recently, a lot of people from my area (San Francisco bay area) have moved to sacramento because of higher real estate prices here, and such low prices ther. Let me warn you: there is a reason for the price drop. The place is depressing. Everyone seems to have layed back and taken mediocrity, and the weather is either unbearably hot, or grey. Fresno, CA: see Sacramento, and put Fresno in the place where it said Sacramento. Paris, France: I've never been to a city of such opposites. The city itself is beautiful, but the Paritians make it unbearable for Americans. I've been to Paris probably some six or seven times. Each time I have had an incodent or several incodents with the local people treating me like crap because I can't cover up my American accent. Not worth it to me. |

My List: LOVE: Asheville NC -(i live here, such a good vibe, so much to do, cool downtown, great outdoors stuff, real estate is a little high but other than that there's so many interesting people!) Wrightsville Beach NC- I love the beaches, and the houses, and the people, and the shopping in the surrounding areas! Palm Beach, Fla- So sunny and clean and all about some stucco! I love the big ritzy houses and the spanish inspired archetecutre and all the Flordia sunshine! London- Soooo Faboo! i loved how BIG it was but every street felt intimate and everything was so interconnected. I also loved how OLD everything was! the city had such caracter! Bath- all the Roman stuff and the old buildings and the green.... basically, i LOVE england!!! REALLY COULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT: Winston-Salem, NC- gritty, sprawling, ugly, commercial, and not very interesting on top of everything Durham NC- see aforementioned reasons. There's maybe three pretty things about the whole city- NCSSM, the neighborhood to one direction where all the teachers live, and the Duke campus. There was a drug bust at a house across the street from my boarding school one night when we were playing capture the flag on the lawns- riot gear, gunshots, the works. we quickly decided to go play something else! I really need to get out more.... Tho i do know a lot about my home state! |
Awwwwww Sage, I lived in NC for four years and I miss it. Never been to Winston-Salem but been to Raleigh and Durham many times. And I have to agree with the England thing; I loved every minute I spent there, it was amazing!

London is my home city and holds an exciting atomsphere whenever I am there. However I hate it for it's crop of shallow minded grey people who have no interest in culture. I hope this has explained such my opinion.
