In the House Cardio

Living in Virginia, the weather around here is different all the time. Some days its raining, some days its cold, some days its raining and cold.
Anyhow...because of this, it sort of limits what I can do outside for some sort of Cardiovascular activity.
I do not own or can't afford getting a treadmill, excersice bike, and so forth. So I have been jumping rope and using my sisters stair climber to help burn off that excess fat (and yes watching what I eat...which sucks).

Doing this for about 2 weeks, I was wondering what some of the things that you all do, or can suggest for cardio at home...without any machinery.

Exercise bikes can be cheap. Try $100 or less for a non-electronic one that uses tension adjustments. It doesn't have to be expensive to be good. Or buy a step and a workout video. 3 days a week, I do a step-class with the wife. It's a fairly efficient way to get your cardio in. The only plus to doing it at the gym is all the cute girls in spandex.

And here I thought this was an end in itself.

You can buy those step videos for like 10-15 bucks, so besides just toughing it out in the bad weather, that's probably your cheapest alternative.

Good job with the jump rope. It is one of the tougher cardio exercises. Try possibly buying a cheap exercise video that you can use when you want a little variety. I find with cardio it is all about variety otherwise I just get burned out doing it :). If you want to shell out a lil money then I also suggest a heavy bag to pound away on. Moving around and smacking at the heavy bag is a very nice workout as well.

Heavy bag is awesome, but I can't jump rope to save my life. The video is good too. I travel a lot and that is something I can do from any hotel room, I just play the dvd from the laptop.

Jump rope is great. Stepping up and down on a chair is good exercise as well.

This thread has been up for HOW long, and nobody's mentioned sex?

Guess we really DID need the titty board back. You're all getting weak.

cleaning the house in itself is cardio

Here are a couple ideas that haven't been mentioned yet:

If you have a big house, you can just walk around it at a fast pace moving your arms.

Jumping jacks

If you have a long hall in your house, sprint back and forth

Dance to some music
