You are what we call a hard gainer. You will need to research mass building suppliments (weight gainers, etc.) and force yourself to eat more then your BMR daily. Hit those weights hard with low reps!

Protein... If you can afford it, lots of steaks, and such meats. I'm going to try and go back on this sort of diet, as I've lost most the fatty weight I had a year-two years ago, and now want to build back up muscle mass. I have a friend who was trying to gain weight, and like you no matter what we did he gained 10 pounds, and stayed there. Make sure to work out everything, legs, upper body, and what not, my friend would skimp out on leg workouts, and I know there was more mass to be gained there.

I had jaw surgery a few years ago and lost a lot of weight.

So I went out and bought a weight gain powder formula that you mix with milk. I combinded that with high weight/low reps and gained 15 pounds easily.

There is a good weight gaining supplement call N-Large 2 by prolab. It is loaded with calories and carbs which will definitely put the weight on.

Make sure you eat a lot of carbs a day. Like 3 to 4 times your bodyweight.

Nah, just eat a lot of calories an keep your 40/40/20 macronutrient ratios going. You want to add muscle not all fat A good starting point would be 15 X your bodyweight in calories.

Timing is important. If you want to gain muscle, be sure to eat a protein heavy meal within an hour of so after a workout with weights or other heavy exercise.

Of course, if you want to put on the weight and you don't care whether it's fat or muscle, eat a big meal late in the evening, before going to bed. Even back in my 20s, when I had a fast metabolism, late-evening eating would put weight on -- like I said, not always to the good.

One of two thing will probably happen for you.

1. You'll all of a sudden just start putting on weight in the next few years..
2. You'll have to weight until your late 20's or even early 30's for your metabolism to slow down. Once it slows you will finally start to put on some weight. I'm 27 and I've recently started to see signs of this happening.

Make sure you keep training, eating(never let yourself feel hungry) and sleeping. If you are only making strength gains at the moment that isn't a bad thing. Getting stronger is good! There are a lot of "little" guys out there that have no problems putting a big guy in his place.

The other thing to realise is that not everyone has awesome genetics. Some people just seem to look at weights and they start growing. Others have to train hard for many years to get the same results.

Above all, be patient. Your young and your body is still growing.

Although you read his sentence right, the information is not true unless your goal is to become a fatass

Stick with the ratio I gave you, you cannot go wrong with it.

I'm 19, and I've always been 6'2", and 160 something, until last year. I tried using creatine for 3 months and really hit the gym seriously with a friend, and peaked at 182 lbs. Putting on about 20 lbs. of muscle in 3 months is impressive, but I lost almost all of it over the next year . Back to 165 lbs., losing most of my muscle in my first semister at college. Not eating enough, not hitting the gym, and perhaps creatine had something to do with my getting skinny again. But the thing that really did it was the shitty food I've been eating at college. When you're hungry, don't eat a snicker's bar or poptarts. Go get a real meal. Sugar and carb loaded processed crap food does nothing for me other than surpress my hunger, which results in weight loss. When you're hungry, take the time to eat real food.

Do this and you will gain weight (450-600 pounds a day would be my guess, although I doubt you will keep it up for more than a couple hours)

Get protein shake powder on ebay, it's a lot cheaper that way. Drink one before you work out, then half of one after. If you have protein drinks without working out, you'll just get fat.

Whey Protein powder + water has no fat, usually little calories, and almost no carbs. Don't worry about getting fat anytime soon by drinking them

By the way, if you are to only have one protein shake a day, the most important time to have it is after your workout to protect your body from catabolizing your muscles.
