Carb blockers?

My wife has seen adverts for some kind of supplement called carb blockers and expressed an interest in trying them. Apparently they are supposed to block the digestion and/or absorbtion of carbohydrates. Is anyone familiar with these? Do they work or are they a waste of money?

Never heard of anything like that, and if it were true, with all the hate carbs are getting these days, they'd be way more famous.

I'd just avoid them, but I have no solid proof they don't work. With all the restaurants and such trying to make money off of the atkins fad, it should be easy enough to avoid carbs if you want to.

I read an article in a health journal saying that carb blockers have yet to be proven to work yet, so save your money. Don't buy them. Nimble makes a good point, if you're worried about accidentily eating carbs, many restaurants already have Atkins menus.

If the craving for carbs are there, you just have to fight it. There's not other way.

Carb blockers.... save your money, you don't need them. You only get 20 grams of carb a day on induction. Blocking them may be unhealthy. Your body needs some carbs.

Atkins works - without all the BS products on the market meant to take your money.

Try this.... yummy and only 5 carbs.

Actually, I've heard positive things about carb blockers. It probably depends on the brand, but if you are on a low-carb diet (Atkin's) then it could help you stay in ketosis.

Wherever you heard good things about Carb blockers is way off. They are a scam just like every other diet pill. Cortislim or something like that is the most guilty. They even pay people to come on health and fitness forums to pimp their product. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Any pill like that is a scam.

Boo...20g of carbs a day? Some people have triple that. Atkins works for a quick fix, while you lose muscle. It is not overly healthy for you either due to the high cholesterol food you are eating.

There are some studies that say people that eat a lot of carbs burn more calories. The key to weight loss is burn more calories than you take in. Not that hard of a concept. Everyone wants a quick fix (myself included), but there are none that work and are healthy long term.

No, Atkins actually burns a lot of fat.

Debatable at best. There are some studies that shows it causes you to lose muscle while raising your cholesterol. I am not saying it does not burn any fat, but it is not a healthy way to lose weight.

Well I'll agree with you there, however, as I've said in the past, you have to look at it on a case by case basis. Some of the people doing the Atkins are so obese, ANYTHING that helps them lose weight is healthier than continueing their habits. Is it healthy for me to do? God no, but I'm also not morbidly obese. I think the only people that should go on the Atkins are people that are clinically obese and have tried traditional methods first.
