sweaty palms..what to do??
 

i always have sweaty palms...even as i type this my keyboard is soaked!!!

some people say its cuz i get nervous, but sometimes im watching tv holding the remote and i get it?? And then sometimes my hands/palms are real dry and i need hand cream. So what gives?

wow, i thought this was anxiety or nerves - probably the same thing. i would go to d dr. if i were you. bet there is something you can change in your diet.

I developed sweaty palms from playing drums. It was kind of weird. They also get sweaty from the slightest bit of anxiety. For example, if I see a roller coaster on TV, I need a towel.

I just wash my hands a lot. Eventually, my skin dries up and im cool.

I actually think its some rare condition that causes your hands to always sweat, and sometimes your feet. Google it, you'll find results

tried that but in winter time here my skin starts to crack and is some times painful. so to combat that prob i would use hand cream but as soon as i apply it i sweat like im in a sauna.

i build up crud on everything i touch for very long. my keyboard is covered in a brown crud on the edges of my keys, my mouse too, my car stearing wheel. my guitar strings are replaed basicly every 30 days because i rust them through w/my sweat. I wash them all the time, so i know that's not the problem. My hands just sweat like mad all the time. I wish my dr could just perscribe some pill or something to stop them.

same here, well not the guitar stuff but keyboard/mouse!!!
my sister once told me that her friend had the same prob and the only way she got rid of it was thru surgery!! man aint no way am i gonna do that.

yeah, i dont think i'm letting a doctor w/a knife anywhere near me just for my sweaty palms. i'll take pills, sure, but no cutting please.

My hands haven't ever been a problem, but I have sweaty feet and every winter I get athlete's foot because of it. I think I saw a thread the past week or two on here also about sweaty pits, and mine are a little overactive as well (they used to be very much worse)...

I wonder if all these are related somehow, abnormal sweating without purpose..

yeah it sucks replacing shoes every 2 mnths

I have ridiculously sweaty palms. After 5min of video games the controller is drenched. Washing my hands with soap helps but they really don't bother me enough that I would go to a doctor. They are only annoying when I have to shake someones hand because I have to discreetly wipe my hand first unless I want to give their hand a bath.

Simple cure for sweaty palms-

Drysol roll on. It is prescription here in US, I'm not sure if it is OTC in Canada.

It essentially shuts down the sweat glands. Works great on hands!!

Yes, I HATE sweaty palms. I get the same thing with the junk on the mouse and keyboard. My friends say I'm like Death, with cold and clammy hands. It's not great when I soak my Lover's hand in sweat.

I would say put up with it for now. Or you could go to the doctor's. Also, try baby powder.

I went to see a doctor about it, its called hyper hydrosis.

He said there were a few options (he was reluctant to give any specifics), but said that they were all uniformely horrible. The powders and pills and all are still completely untested for long term effects, and some have real nasty side effects. The other option was surgery, they cut a nerve that produces sweat in your hands. It'll dry 'em right up, but sometimes it may be too much dry. And where the heck does all that extra sweat go?

So basically I walked away from the meeting pretty disappointed, and cursing at my involuntary nervous system.

There are better temporary solutions for the feet, however. There are kinds of socks that are meant for sweating, they're tiny little ankle socks that go underneath your regular socks and keep them and your shoes bone dry. I just got a few pair and I love them! Also, you can take regular spray on deoderant and spray your feet in it, that works too. But I was warned about prolonged exposure, no more than 6 weeks at a time, and take a few weeks off. And dusting with Talcum powder carries the same effect.

I've had the same problem for as long as I can remember. For me, the best thing to do was learn to live with it.

I think I read somewhere on Webmd that sweaty palms can also be a side effect of some asthma medications, which I take (albuterol). Could be wrong tho.

It is a pain in the ass. There is a product in the US that may be close to Drysol. It is good for the underarms so it might be able to be used on your hands. It is called Certain Dri and can be found at a Walgreens, Eckerd drugstore, etc.

You probably have hyperhidrosis.

Wow! I always thought people with sweaty hands didn't wash them enough and had some sort of bacteria or something. Really interesting!

Maybe you could try a bit of talc or something? :)

My feet sweat a heck lot too. I leave a trail walking on the tile in the changing rooms :/

Hyperhidrosis sucks big time...BIG TIME.

I have it bad; palms, feet, and underarms. They are somehow linked though. If i use the Drysol (aluminum chloride in alcohol) I use it once every week or so under my arms and it works fine. Using it under the arms makes it itch real real bad, so use it on a night you are gauranteed to fall asleep FAST. The hands and feet in mine are linked. If my hands are sweaty, my feet are too. But if my hands are not, my feet stop....weird

My recommendation for using Drysol:
Night one: Get these ready: Saran Wrap, 2 socks and the medication. Apply the medication and wrap the saran wrap over it then place the sock on it.
After this initial 'shock' you will not have to use the saran wrap or the sock and only have to use it every other day, then every other other day, then once a week, then once every 2 weeks and so forth. Only problem is remembering to do it, if you forgot then the cycle starts over again.h
