I sweat too much
I don't know what is wrong with me! I'll just be sitting in a room playing video games or watching TV and i'll just get HUGE pit stains man! I put on anti-persperant deodorant and everything, put on undershirts etc but i can't stop all this sweat for no reason. I'm not hot, or anything i just sweat for no reason!
I'm not a huge big fat guy, i'm big but i'm in shape and work out every other day. If anyone has any tips/tricks to get rid of this sweat or these darn pit stains plz share! i hate having them |

I can sweat by taking a short walk outside in the middle of winter wearing just pants and a sweater.
It just happens, and it really sucks. All my classes are quite a walk, so when I get there I'm always sweating. Funny thing is that when I go run, it takes a while before I break a sweat. |

certain clothing (fabric) will make me sweat more than say good ol' cotton.
when i was younger, i was a lot more nervous, so i think contributed to my sweating frequently. and a few years back i was very actively taking aerobics classes at a nice club. i noticed that so many women came to class with perfect hair & make-up & left just the same after class, but i would be totally drenched as if someone had hosed me down with a garden hose. one of the aerobic instructors sweated just as profusely as i did, so i ask her about it one day. she told me it was simply because our bodies had a more efficient cooling system. so, i guess like meff said, it does mostly boil down to genetics.

There are a couple of options that may or may not work if it's something you really want to change. I forget what the active ingredient is in anti perspirants but there are some anti perspirants that have more of it than others. Other alternatives include surgery to remove sweat glands in the most troublesome areas. Injections of botox and electrical stimulation are other treatments (but these are only temporary and need to be repeated fairly regularly).
I sweat a lot as well and have looked into "solving" the problem. To me it just doesn't warrant the treatments that are out there. I just deal with it and wear clothing that doesn't show it when I know I'll be in public situations where it will happen.

I was in the same situation as you. I would pit out everyday from just sitting at my desk. I tried every anti-perspirent on the market and nothing helped, no one was better than any other. So one day I was at costco and there was a great deal on deoderant. Since I typically used anti-perspirent and it didn't help, I figured, "oh well, I sweat anyway, what's it going to matter?" so I started using the deorderant instead. Haven't had a problem since. Turns out it was the antiperspirent that was making me sweat in the first place. I always thought that was a bit wierd...

this is similar to another thread about people w/really sweaty hands. it seems to me that if anti-perspirents dont work well enough, there are few good options to go for. most of the perminant solutions seem pretty invasive for such a relitivly small problem like sweat.

You may want to ask your doctor about prescription strength anti-perspirants. I forget the name, but I used to sweat alot and my doctor prescribed something that I used for a couple of weeks and then just one a month or so after that and it seemed to help to the point where I am rarely bothered by profuse sweating anymore. Havern't really used it in quite a while either.

its not that small a problem. I mean if i've got a job interview and i've got like the worst case of sweaty palms it doesnt really play off that well. And its an every day hassle. Like for instance driving wheel has a funny feeling after (like the when you peel a piece of tape off of something and the tape has been there for awhile) Or if you're out and you're trying to meet that special person, i mean who wants sweaty palms touching them, right? BTW im the one that started the sweaty palms thread. |
