Charlie horses!
I keep getting them and was wondering if anyone knew why you get them? Or could direct me to a website that might have answers! Thanks in advance. :icare:

Well, i tend to get them in my legs... its really a matter of stretching after excersizing. I know the worst time i ever got them was after running 6miles, and going straight to sleep, i woke up, and my calves clamped up, i couldnt walk for the rest of the day. Basicly, stretch, its good to ice them....

also make sure you have good nutrition... if you have any nutritional deficiencies, that could cause them... eat an apple a day... :)

One major cause of muscle cramps is dehydration. Make sure you are getting enough water. Also, try taking a calcium-magnesium supplement if water doesn't fix the problem.

besides vitamin supplements, what foods are the best sources for calcium and magnesium? |
I just got another one! Make it stop! :(
|
Yah, supplements, especially for the kind that strike when you're just sitting there or when you wake up in the morning. Or, try eating yogurt for the calcium and other minerals.

I used to get them lots until I started making sure I was drinking more water. Not more fluids, but more PURE water. Helped alot and now I rarely get them.

Calcium and magnesium are important, but so is potassium, which comes from oranges, bananas, and potatoes. Potassium and sodium work to regulate the water level in cells. Not enogh water and the right amount of vitamins and minerals can help lead to cramping.
