spare a thought for my friend
 

there is nothing worse than losing a family member at any time, letalone withunder 12hours before our final highschool exams start.

my friend, a great fellow, only 17, has hard it tough for as long as ive known him. lost his mother due to breast cancer at the start of the year which he's still not coping well with. raised his little girl with his girlfriend for the past two, kept a roof over their heads whilist working a part time job, and managed to maintain a B+ average across his final year of highschool of maths and science based subjects. he's had a shit of a run this week of study vacation, his grandfather suffering 4 heart attacks in 3 days. he's been overloaded with stress of upcoming exams, this pushed him over the edge.

unfortunately, his grandfather passed away today. just spoke to him on the phone, he's an absolute mess, cannot concentrate at all. i dont know what to do to be there for him tomorrow before the exam, apart from giving him moral support.

i ask of you, fellow tfp'ers, to give a moments thought to him, to wish him the best of luck and to have the strength to get through this very tough stretch of his life. i have unbelievable amounts of respect for him, and would hate to see him miss out on his goal of studying engineering next year due to this very unfortunate event. thank you.

your friend is in my thoughts and prayers, as are you. i pray that you will continue be a rock for your friend to fall on as he struggles through all of this, and for him not to lose hope.

Your friend is in my thoughts and prayers also. Please continue to provide him any support you can. I lost my father the day before my senior prom. It really screwed me up. My friends kind of stayed away from me. I needed their support and they just didn't know what to say or do. Please don't do the same thing to your friend. Stay by him, talk with him, do things with him. It'll help him immensely, trust me. Good luck.

I will put good thoughts for him in my Good Thoughts Box. I hope he comes through this all right - be there for him to listen to him and support him. It sounds as though he's got a tough path in front of him, but he's come through so much already, he must be an amazingly strong person.

well he made it through today, the funeral being between his two adv. calculus exams next week. thank you for your support toward him, he needs everything he can get at the moment.

I can't imagine that the school wouldn't be sensitive to his unfortunate problems and allow him to take the exams at a later time...?

the school doesnt run or set the exams, its beyond their control. the examinations are set and marked by an outside body in junction with the department of education.

he has applied for consideration of disadvantage, but still has to sit the exam at the time its scheduled for, otherwise he will get no consideration of disadvantage. if he gets it, he will get an estimated score for the exam, and an estimated enter score (enter score = used for university entrace selection)

the exams are sat by all students at the same time across the state so that there is no cheating. from these exams, it determines if we go onto tertiary education.

im very sorry for what happened to your friend. i hope things get better.
