Observation: A Very Bad Day.
Today, I observed one of my dad's least favorite days.
We'll start with the truck. The battery was dead so he had to use jumper cables to get it started. So he finally gets to Mechanic's to check the alternater. It dead, so he has to buy a new one, or a rebuilt one, I cant remember which he got. He gets that installed and It still won't crank. The battery's water has evaperated so he replaces the water and it's still not charging so he buys a battery and the Starter goes out. I would have filled the truck full of shotgun shells by now, but he insist's that It's been a pretty good day. He gets home to read his mail to find out his homeowner's insurance has been canceled because there's an Upright Freezer in our yard, No fence around our pool, and a vacant building in front of our house which isn't even our property. OK, the freezer does look a little weird sitting there, but It hasn't been there long at all. The pool is Total BS. The Deck has a fence, and the pool has railings. I can't even climb over them, Even then, It's not even a pool, It's filled with sand. So tonight I ride with him to the store and He's filling me in on the details of the truck that I had missed earlier in the day. On the way home, I see that I haven't buckled my seatbelt so I buckle it and jokingly say "Better buckle up, Might get pulled over" He replys, "All the way out here?" We live way outside of town, where no cops patrol. I tell him He's already had a pretty rotten day, and I wouldn't rule it out. He still insisted that the day wasn't all that bad. Literally 30 seconds later we hit a deer head on. It bent up the hood but we didn't see any damage to the radiator. As he was going to bed he said, "God, it's been a baaad day..."

I'm going to offer two contradictory thoughts.
1. That totally sucks. I'm sorry - seems like some days nothing goes right. 2. Perspective often helps. At least you don't live in Burkina Faso or Tikrit or bass-ackward China. Things could be much, much worse. Nobody died. Nobody lost limbs. Shrug at your misfortune and count your blessings.

Sounds to me like your dad didn't take it all that bad. I think most other people would have gotten a heart attack or something like it. Hope he has better luck the rest of the week.

The deer-thing could have easily been avoided, so he should be mad about that...the rest is, for the most part, out of his hands, so he's about as mad as I think I'd be.

As I am fond of telling myself quite frequently while I am in similar situations, "It could've been worse."
