Pregnant prostitutes and the man's obligations?
 

I wasn't sure if this should be in Living or Sexuality, but I decided it's got more to do with Living. If I'm wrong I apologize :)

Hi everyone. Today my mind was wandering and I was thinking about men being forced to pay child support for children they helped create. This isn't a true story, it didn't happen to a 'friend of mine, or anything like that, I was just pondering things.

From what I understand:

a) In many countries if a man impregnates a woman, and she decides to have the baby, he will probably be required by law to pay child support.

b) In many countries prostitution/brothels are legal and it is the prostitute's responsibility to ensure she doesn't get pregnant/infected with an STD.

Assuming a) and b) are correct, think about this:

A man visits a prostitute and she is on the pill and makes him wear a condom. He is a regular customer and is known by the prostitute/business. The prostitute accidentally falls pregnant (misuse of the pill, a broken condom, the reason isn't important) and she decides to have the baby. Nine months later the man is informed that he's a father.

Will the man have to pay child support? He is the father and played half the role in the creation of the child. On the other hand she did make every effort to prevent pregnancy, and there was an unspoken mutual agreement that there would be no baby.

What do people think?

Legally, He would be responsible, but I'd like to see it go to court.

Personally I don't know how'd she make the decision to have the baby of a random customer. It's possible though.

whoa! a prostitute for $3.20? i gotta remember that when i go to italy ;).

back on topic, how would she be certain that one man (out of the hundreds that she fucked) is the daddy?

Blood or DNA test could prove the man was the father. If it turns out he is, good luck avoiding child support. The laws are pretty strict in these cases and judges are not forgiving.

I knew a guy who worked full-time,was faithfully paying child support to one mother of his kids, and his current girlfriend took him to court for child support of their child. Knowing what he already was paying and his income level the judge set the new child support amount over the guy's income amount. Needless to say the guy ended up in jail for failure to meet his obligations but he never had a chance.

Not condoning having kids you can't pay for but when you present all the facts to a judge and the system does that to you I think its pretty shitty.

I'd say the cash deposit was to cover that the other deposit was no longer his responsibility.

She gets paid to have sex. She has to accept the dangers of the workplace. If Im a roof tiler and I fall off Im not going to sue the customer. Maybe she can go through the union in order to get workers compensation?
