For me, the best feeling in the world is winning. Either beating someone or something after a particularly long struggle. It's a high that just won't go away. Too bad I don't experience it all that often. Veritas en Lux! Jimmy The Hutt

Petting a dog's head. Being at peace with everything around you and not worrying about anything even if it's just for 5 seconds, that feeling were you don't have anything to worry about.
Also going to the beach with my bf and we were stretched out lying in the sand on our stomachs facing each other, at the perfect point on the beach were the water still trickles over you. I've never had someone pay that much attention to me as he did right then, I felt like the center of the universe. Going with my best friend to Cozumel and sitting back on the beach looking at the landscape and pretending we were in a Corona beer commercial, because everything looked so perfect! |

I box all over the UK and would have to say the feeling you get when you knock someone down is pretty good. Some people would say thats shallow, but they just don't understand the amount of respect there is in the boxing community.
I also love when you know you're on for some action, like when you've pulled the girl in question, and she begins to get naked. Amazing.

Some of the best feelings I've ever had were in high school during basketball season.
I was never really a sport guy in the varsity sense, and I had tried out for basketball in 11th grade after I recovered from my broken ankle. I didn't make the team. I continued to work out and practice with the team. Over the summer, I went to practice almost every day, worked out, ran hard for 3 hours. Finally, the asst coaches (who worked with us over the summer) told me during the summer that despite tryouts in the fall, I was making the team. I started to work even harder. Here comes great feeling #1: During an early practice in the fall, we were doing ball handling drills and doing a move to the basket. After doing it a few times and getting my finger rolls very high above the rim, I decided, on a whim, to try to dunk the ball. Now, at the time, I'm this skinny 6'2ish white guy (no offense), but I did a little in and out move, and flew above the rim for a thunderous one handed dunk. The whole practice stopped. The kid who couldn't make the team last year was elevating above the rim. I kept doing it Now, fast forward to the regular season. My school was about 1500 kids, 9-12 grade. It was the last game of the season before the playoffs - senior recognition night. We were playing our arch rivals. During warmups, I just looked around. Nothing but people packing bleachers. Our kids going crazy, the other team's supporters yellin right back. Not an empty seat in the house. During the layup line, I start doing these insane 2 handed dunks, wowing the crowd. They cheered me for more. Great feeling #2: adrenaline rush given to me by the crowd ^ Now, I didn't really play much in that game, or much in the season actually (the coach had a problem with using new people), but when we won that game and sent those f*ckers home. Oh, and beating the #1 ranked team in the Nassau county semifinals helped too - the most noise I've ever heard out of our locker room in SUNY Westbury (where we played playoff games). Nothin like sports for great feelings - nothing like knowing girls are watching you when you dunk :P |

I'd have to say my first hit of junk. ahhh the good times....
jk anyway, even though I'm feeling particularly cynical tonight -- Love. I don't think that there's anything better than looking into someone's eyes and seeing eternity. a close second would be deep prayer or meditation. I think that there's something really mind blowing in the process of letting go of yourself to gain the ability to see something greater than yourself.

I have gotten awesome feelings from:
(a) 1 minute standing ovation before ~1000 people... first time in my life it happened in 2000... gosh. I was totally at a loss for words. It was at an awards ceremony and I was the only recipient who received this. Even today, the memory makes me cry. (b) Scoring the winning goal in soccer or blocking the final free kick in sudden death (I used to play offense, defense, and goalkeeper equally well) (c) Being essential to my ski team's competition... not necessarily being the best, but not disqualifying if it helped us win (d) Just plain helping a large number of people with community projects, and I have led a few (e) My work on open-source projects as it helps many people I hope someday I'll be able to share the sentiment of those who have an S.O. Also, I think I would definitely love to scale a peak the likes of Kilimanjaro. Probably not K2, though. I'm scared shitless of the death zone above 26,000 feet (~8km). I think it is really awesome that people have made it to the top of K2, Everest, and other peaks and lived to tell their tale! The story of the historic ascent of Hillary & Sherpa to the top of Everest in April/May 1953 instilled an awe in me. Skydiving is another thing on my list of things to do in life. EDIT: After reading the second page of responses, I'm adding this: (f) Getting an A in an important class I never expected to get anything better than a B or C in. This happened in Spring 2003 and I was elated.

The weird thing is, when i already have it in my hands, when i've already accomplished what i was working to accomplish, i'm not as happy... pleased, yes but not with the rush that was there before. So i guess, one of the greatest feelings for me is not achieving a goal but the thrill of the chase. |

Here's something that most people might laugh at me for but eh... For some reason I get the best feeling when I emberass myself in public. I was always a shy introverted kid and as a grew up I did a complete 180. Anywho, my friends and I will have the best time just making complete fools of ourselves in public. I go out of my way to do things to make a fool of myself and generate laughter from all the strangers around me. Sometimes it's just fun to be walking along normally then suddenly do the most elaborate trip and fall you can cook up to cause people around to you stare and laugh. I guess I'm a born performer.

Let's see, I would have to say for me it's
1. Scoring the winning goal in shootouts for the division final. And this is me who plays all time defense, usually sweeper, and loves it. Playing soccer is always a rush for me, especially when you and your defense are gelling and you absolutely destroy and offense your opponent has. 2. That rush you get when you're driving down the road in the middle of the night windows down, music pumping, getting you all hyped. 3. Prolly the absolute best feeling I have ever had to date is standing at the Iwo Jima monument on Parris Island after a 10 mile hump and being up for a little over two days on the Crucible. You stand in formation and you recieve your Eagle, Globe, and Anchor from your drill instructors who rode your ass unmercifully throughout boot camp. To get that Eagle, Globe, and Anchor and have your drill instructor shake your hand and say "Congratulations, you made it, you're a Marine." There's nothing like it in the world knowing you have achieved what you once thought was impossible.........wow.

The best feeling in the world is when I wake up in the middle of the night, look around me, have the moonlight shining into my room, my cat snuggled neatly against my chest, and my boyfriend on my other side, snoring gently, while stroking my hand in his sleep. It is the best euphoria that I could possibly imagine.

2 things come to mind, in no particular order:
1: Nailing a series of curves, on the perfect line, without letting off the accelerator all the way... I love driving... 2: Making a child happy. The feedback is instant, and so sincere! oh, yeah, and the one with waking up in the morning next to GF/SO, can't wait 'till I find that again...

Love
Falling asleep with someone you love Falling asleep when you are really tired Hot bath when you are really cold Crawling between silk sheets after shaving your legs, etc. Adrenaline rush Lying there after sex and talking Listening to your favorite music speeding down the freeway in a sports car Playing drums Jumping a three foot, or more, jump on horseback Hearing someone say that they love you and want to be with you forever Or those are just mine

I've been avoiding this thread for a while... I didn't know what to say but I really wanted to give a respones.
So, here is the best of what I can come up with. The best feeling in the world for me is the feeling I get when I get what I want. I doesn't happen as often as it used to but which is why I don't take it for granted anymore.

1) At the end of a weekend Tae Kwon Do training camp in the woods, running down the side of the mountain, out onto the peir and diving into the lake and just letting the momentum take you down and slowly bring you back up. Its the cool water, the feeling of being weightless after exerting every muscle in your body and echoing sounds in the water relaxing my mind.
2) Getting a blowjob in the life guards chair at night in Ocean City. I graduated at the end of summer and went to OC for the weekend. There was a warm breeze blowing off the water, a thunderstorm was rumbling in from the east and there was a light rain falling. The sound of the ocean, the rumbling thunder, smell of the sea air, the light rain and pre orgasmic convulsions were amazing. 3) Driving along I-10 with the love of my life in the passenger seat of the convertible we rented for our trip from Jacksonville, Florida to San Francisco, CA. The weather was perfect, we had 50 of the best cds ever recorded and a rader detector. We took turns doing 100+ down I-10 stopping in Panama City, New Orleans, Texas and just enjoying a week on the road.

Love- whether it be a warm gesture or words from my son or the silent exchange of that strong connection between my husband & I, even through troubles, I know it's there, or just helping someone and seeing their expression.

As far as love is concerned, the greatest feeling is waking up next to Julie, and Elayna, and Meagan, and Sharon, and Patty and.....
It is really difficult to pinpoint the greatest feeling because I have quite a few of them. Let's have a looksee: Getting an ace in a disc golf tournament (have 3 tournament aces now) Giving a jacket/money to a homeless person Being home for the holidays with my family When I graduated and had my family there watching me Winning (anything) Sizing up your competition and knowing they don't stand a chance against you. Flying past a cop doing 90 and him not having a radar on. Being appreciated for who you are and not by how much money you make, what kind of body you have, who you associate with, etc...
