Trilogy Tuesday....go or sell?

As you may or may not know, New Line Cinema is allowing select theatres to show all three Lord of the Rings movies back to back on the day Return of the King comes out. Onodrim got screwed over when trying to get tickets for the Chicago showing, but was able to manage to get 2 tickets for the only other Illinois showing in Springfield. She and I planned on going down there to see all three movies and then staying with a friend that night and driving back home the next morning.

However, since almost every theatre showing the trilogy sold out within about 48 hours, there is a huge demand for these tickets on eBay. Granted, Springfield isn't Chicago, but I'm pretty confident we can make at least $100 profit off these two tickets if we were to sell them. Of course, that would also mean we wouldn't get to see the entire trilogy back to back to back on a movie screen.

So, what do you think we should do? Sell them? Or keep them?

Sell the fuckers, buy the trilogy on DVD, and watch them back-to-back with family and friends and a table of food. It's who you watch it with that makes a good movie better.

Yah, I had wanted to go in Portland, but I was going to buy tickets later next week.

Oh well.

I vote GO! It's something you'll remember your whole life and that you CAN'T buy!

Sure it would be cool to see them on the big screen with all the glitz and show.

I guess you have to ask yourself if you're willing to spend nearly ten hours in a smelly cramped theater with a bunch of dunderheads, who in all likelyhood will spoil the movie somehow, for the price of a couple of lost c-notes.

Seeing on the big screen would be nice....but $100 buys a buttload of microwave popcorn....

you're going to sit in a theatre with several hundred other people for 9 hours straight? If that experience is worth a hundred dollars to you, then by all means go (and pray the air conditioner works). Otherwise, sell them and get the special edition box set and you'll have 9 hours of footage for each movie to watch in the comfort of your own home, where you won't have to spend $5 on a hot dog.

Well, we've decided to try to sell them on ebay with a reserve that would make it worth missing the show. If no one buys, we still get to go. If they get bought, we make money. Either way a good situation overall Thanks for all the input!

I'd go,
just for the experience.

Much less seeing a good movie
and bragging rights.
