Claritin

Anyone here try the over-the-counter prescription strength Claritin for allergy problems?
I tried it and it works ok; I tried it because it used a different medication then all the other brands so I thought I would try it, damn expensive though.

I use Alavert which is the same stuff but a little cheaper, and it's the best thing I've ever used for my allergies. I tried Allegra but it did nothing for me. I think that different anti-histamines work best for different people so it's important to shop around.

try to get Clarinex (just a slight tweaky version of Claritin, it's what they put out after Claritin was forced into an over-the-counter medication). I think it's desloratadine (Clarinex) as opposed or loratadine (Claritin)

I am just saying that if you have health insurance, it'll probably come out cheaper getting Clarinex prescribed by your doctor as opposed to buying Claritin over the counter, which you are correct -it's expensive-

2 pills of the regular strength Claritin works good for me...Take 1, and then about and hour or two later, take a second one.

I tried the over the counter kind before and they did work, however, didn't work as well as the Zyrtec that I used to use for when my alergies get bad. My insurance is pretty bad so I can no longer afford keeping up prescriptions, but I highly reccommend Flonase. That shit worked so good when I would use it daily.

The non-sedating antihistamines(claritin and its generics, clarinex, allegra, zyrtec) do seem to build a tolerance after about 2 years of use, but usually switching to a different one in the group works
Many prescription plans will not cover any of the non-sedating AH now that claritin is OTC, unless the doc gets preapproval, which involves documenting that the OTC claritin did not work for the patient
Also happening in some other drug classes- like the stomach meds(proton pump inhibitors) now that one of them went OTC.
The steroid nasal sprays(like flonase) are a great alternative, and most are covered by plans

Claritin is the shizzle bizzle. I only wish it wasn't so expensive -- Kroger has a generic brand that works just as well but its not much cheaper.

Claritin did nothing for me, everyones different I guess. I got my Doc to prescribe Singulair, that did the trick.

fuckit.. Just get your doctor to get you PREDNISONE tablets. Usually only need ten.

You take it for 3 - 5 days and depending on dosage should last you Spring - Fall...

Do you really want to take a steroid when antihistamines are so much safer?

Agreed. I've been on prednisone before and wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless it was absolutely necessary.
