Is something wrong with my eyes???

Hey there...I've had this for a long time...when I drive I see this thing worm looking thing...it's like when you look in a microscope and see cells...picture those round things all lined up like a work and in an odd twisty shape...and make it clear...that's what I am seeing...WTF IS THAT?!?!? It distracts me A LOT sometimes when I drive...I only notice it when I drive too...it's only one and it's small and the shape is always different...there are also sometimes a few dots around the little wormy too...what is it??? Can I get rid of it??? When I drive and it starts bugging me I end up paying attention to it and watching it float around in mid air instead of watching the road...it's gonna get me killed one of these days...my eyes are turning against me...anyone have any info??? THANX
C'YA ?:-D

The things you are talking about are called "floaters". They are bits of cells that remain in the vitreous humor after birth and float around when the vitreous becomes more liquified later in life.
They break into little pieces that forever float around in your eye, and sometimes you will be able to see them. There is no way to get rid of it (to my knowledge), and there is nothing to worry about :). I notice them every so often too.

Here is a picture of what you are talking about if I am not mistaken:

Hope that helps.

I hear that if you continuely see more and more, there may be something wrong and should see an eye doctor.

i havent encountered that yet. But VERY interesting, thanks for that knowledge Plan9!

My eye doctor said that they are normal and it's only a problem if they don't go away after a while.

WHOW!!! It's not NEARLY that big...it's about twice as thin and hard to see unless you're concentrating like when I drive...and it's only one little worm looking thing...only 2 ends of it...guess I'm lucky if ppl have them that look like the one in the picture

Common. Do you wear contacts? glasses? it's more common with near-sightedness. just dead cells floating around.. eventually they'll drop to the bottom... so the new ones can float down..

ignore them.. and they shouldn't be to bothersome.
