Would you rather have good looks or a good brain?
 

There's a great poll going on about whether you want brains or looks in your other. How about in yourself?

Brains.

i'd prefer to still be at least 'average' looking with them...

i don't know how far i'd go for physically disfigured and smart...

but to look good, i wouldn't want to have less than 'average' intelligence either.

so, i voted for brains, but it really depends on the degree of sacrifice of the other.

Why? Someone being smart gets you farther, but not necessairly faster, into where you want to go in this world.

Sure good looks may be faster, but in the end you'll end up useless.

Looks, I think one would be a lot happier being stupid and good looking

How about both? If I had to choose, probably brains

Seems to me that ignorance is bliss, while intelegence brings nothing but a deeper realisation of where we are going in this handbasket. But then maybe I'm just in one of my moods.

I'd rather be a smart ugly guy than a dumb cute one, it'd filter out all the shallow girls :p

I guess it depends on how bad the "looks" would be. If I were, say, deformed physically, I'd prefer better looks.

It also depends on how bad my brain would be if I chose looks. You know?

If I could receive average looks, and a magnificent brain, I'd probably go with the brain. But if I had awful looks and an average brain, I'd go with the looks. I guess it really depends on the extent of each thing.

I think by looks it means superior looks and by brains it means superior brains? a bit vague...

I voted for brains, because frankly brains can get you everything and anything....having just good looks has limitations.

definately brains. i'd rather be acknowledged for a beautiful mind than being beautiful :P

I mean, it's cool having good looks ;) ;) ;) but I think it's a lot more important to be able to think and problem solve if you want to be successful/influential in society. I know that everyone has a different definition of being successful, but making enough money to live on is one of the important parts, and to make enough money to live comfortably you have to be halfway intelligent (though sometimes I wonder).

Im not sure, im reasonably clever but im not sure what being stupid would be like, would it effect the way i think about the world? i suppose i wouldnt even consider some of the "deeper" things in life. But it might be akin to not knowing about quantum physics, i know that theres people out there that knows about such things but i dont care if im not one of them, would the same thing for a stupid person be not knowing how to do maths - knowing but not really caring .its hard for me to imagine how my mind would work if i knocked off 50 IQ points.
Anyways since i consider myself brainy but not that beautiful id think id give the other "side" a try and pick beauty heh

There is nothing sexier to me than a smart(and funny) guy....if looks come along with it than thats a great plus

At times it's a burden, but I wouldn't change.

Probably, the only thing that is superior to that is my heart.

i am content with what i have now, and it is possible to have both in some capacity, it's not like you either have a brain or not and you're either good looking or not???

What exactly would a good brain encompass?
knowledge, problem solving, rational thinking...
does it have anything to do with a "good" personality?

Unfortunately, while I am quite grateful for the occasionally useful gray matter between my ears, I must acknowledge that looks will take you far and with much less effort in this mixed-up, crazy world. Hollywood, anyone?

and good looks without content gets pretty boring i think.
i consider myself lucky : i'm not bud-ugly and i'm not utterly stupid. but i'm ok, i can find the way home every evening so i'm smart enough s.m.r.t. euh s.m.a.r.t. !!
