I stayed at a bed and breakfast place called Otta's house. It was cheap and nice. Otta is some guy who lives in a big house and the breakfast is pretty much toast and jam. Not sure of the contact info, but we got it out of the Let's go Europe book. It's a little out of the way though if you are in a hurry.

Prague was my favorite city in a five week tour of Europe on the rail. It has beautiful old architecture and castles, it is very inexpensive, and it is very friendly. I'd try to stay longer if it is possible.

I wish.. we are laying over from one leg of our trip. I wish we could stay longer too. the best part about this travel is that it's just the beginning of something bigger.

Have you stayed at pensions before ? Praha has a really wide range of places to stay. in Praha 7 or near the Univ. you'd get a fairly decent deal. If you are tall, spend the extra buck and stay in an international chain, you are assured full sized beds :D Last two times I've stuck with Marriott, around 110Euro off-season. with breakfast.

Take a train into town from the airport. When you get off there will be tons of people standing around hawking rooms for the night. Pick the least shady looking one and hit him/her up. I got a good room a block off of Staromestske namesti for about $20 a night last summer.

Enjoy, it's a great city.

If you are looking for a reasonably price hotel go with the Hotel Axa in downtown Prague. It's walking distance from Old Town Square and was reasonably price when I was there a few years ago...

Otherwise I recommend the pensions. Do a google and you should find a good list of very affordable places to stay.

I did a google search and wound up with some places that require the reservation to be made over the internet without it being a secure server... i'm a bit shy in reserving as such. I'm trying a phone number now... thanks!

Don't forget to sample the local beer if you have a chance.
Budwar and Prazdroj are both very very good.

Oh, and keep a very close watch on your belongings, there are a lot of street thieves in Prague and they can be quite brazen about it.

/has been to Prague several times and liked the country and people so much he married one.

Whatever you do, do not go to the Prague 1 hostel, its is very cheap but not even decent for starving students.

This is the number one priority when I go over to Europe, go to Praha!! I heard it is gorgeous there, and the people are even better than the scenic beauty. Has anyone else visited for an extended time, and what areas stand out in your mind. Thanks for your time,
Shaq-fool
