Don't drink and drive!!!

Hey there...first of all I don't know where exactly this should go so I put it here...I hope the more ppl that looks at this website the more ppl will not drink and drive...

I saw this on another forum I go to and felt sad...If I was the girl I would end up committing suicide...she is a very strong person...if I was her father I would find it almost impossible to not go out and kill the guy that drove drunk...plz don't post st00pid stuff like "I wish that guy would die" or "that guy should be beaten within an inch of his life"...that is just cruel and not right...I think he should go to jail for either a long time or the rest of his life...and the death sentence is just leagalized MURDER! So jail is good enuff for me...

Oh yeah...and click at your own risk...has anyone heard about this in the news back then??? Anyone know of any updates on her recovery? THANX
C'YA ?:-D

P.S.: The link is where it says "click at your own risk"

From her own web site:

Quote:

Medical treatment for Jacqui's extensive injuries continues. She and her father, who has been by her side since the crash occurred, now live in Louisville, Kentucky where specialists are performing a series of skin grafts and working to rebuild her right hand. Just recently, Jacqui has been able to resume her studies and is enrolled in intensive English classes.

Asshole Lover 09-05-2003 05:12 PM

gruesome photos. i'll stick to the subway, thanks.

sexymama 09-05-2003 05:46 PM

I actually feel for the guy who was driving as well as Jacqui. He has to live with the guilt of what he has done for the rest of his life -- that is a long time! She has a LONG recovery ahead and has already been through so much. Some will to live! This is a good reminder to all of us -- gruesome but important with "college" life resuming.

mrcraptastic 09-05-2003 05:58 PM

so sad... i probably wouldn't have the will to live after what happened to her either.. but i sometimes have to wonder about the friends of drunk drivers.. there's no way i'd let my friends drive drunk, and if i know i'm going to be drinking, i'll get a ride with someone i know won't be drinking so i'll have a way home, or walk home at the very least. i hope this guy lost his license, but if he didnt, by the look of him, i doubt he'd ever think about drinking and driving again, or letting anyone do the same..

1337haxor 09-05-2003 07:32 PM

Did you see this on [H]? Thats where I first saw it.

IC3 09-05-2003 10:09 PM

I did not click the photo's cause I can't fucking stand that shit..It sickens me.

I know exactly what you mean.

Back when I was about 17, 2 of my friends were killed by a drunk driver that ran a red light...They were coming back from the movie theaters..They were crossing the intersection and the drunk driver ran through it and hitting the both of them.

I just put this up as a message also..To not drink & drive, It's not worth it...Just think about how drunk drivers feel once they realize what they have done...I wonder how many kill themselves...I'm not saying they do...But how could you live with yourself?

Just a message from a me to you, To not drink & Drive.

DEI37 09-06-2003 06:30 AM

I have ZERO tolerance for drunken driving. It's a completely stupid decision to make, and regardless of what you think, you do make it willingly. I also have no problem with charges of either "assault with intent to kill" if the victims don't die, or "manslaughter" if they do.

Shades 09-06-2003 06:17 PM

I don't have any sympathy for drunk drivers who kill or hurt people. Their guilt isn't shit compared to the harm they cause to people and their loved ones.

I was in a mental health care facility. There was a guy there, had a dent in the front of his head. He couldn't talk very well, and one of his feet was turned inwards 90 degrees. He was also pretty slow, and repeated himself several times a day. He was hit by a drunk driver and had been in a coma for some 5 years. He has two sons, about my age, and a wife. That night when I went home, I couldn't stop crying for about an hour, just thinking about how his situation sucked, and what it would be like if that happened to my father, and so on. Sympathy for the guy that hit him and caused all of this? None.

Nimbletoe 09-06-2003 09:40 PM

Thats really sad. I still don't see how people can be dumb enough to drink and drive. I feel really bad for her and her friends/familiy. But you are right, she is a strong person to keep on going.

Litespeed 09-09-2003 04:27 PM

I'm with the guy who's sticking to the subways...

I feel for that girl. I hope she finds joy in life.

bundy 09-09-2003 05:20 PM

thats terrible.
i'll stay on the bus.

drink and drive - you're a bloody idiot! duh!

meff 09-09-2003 05:29 PM

Ouch, thats sad man.

If your drunk give the fucking keys to someone else, you screw up in your into a life of shit to come.

Sometimes I am happy I don't have a car :o

StormBerlin 09-09-2003 09:48 PM

The thing is, he only had a few beers. Now, I don't know how well the young man can hold his alcohol, but to a normal adult male a few beers isn't enough to get you drunk. I don't condone driving after any amount of alcohol has been consumed, but he probably wasn't drunk.

Dano069 09-10-2003 06:21 AM

I had an uncle and a cousin killed by drunk drivers. It's a choice to drink and drive. It should be manslaughter, at the least.

tinfoil 09-10-2003 09:31 AM

1337haxor: Ya, I think that is where I first saw it.

This is one strong girl. I don't know if I would have the courage to live through what she has. Her father as well. I can't begin to imagine how he feels, to see his daughter like this. A brave man.

Drinking and driving is murder, and in some cases, this for example, is worse. They should be forced to suffer the same as their victims.

I hate it when other ppl wish harm to someone else that had hurt another person or ppl...it is just as cruel to cause harm to someone that deserves it than someone who doesn't...it's these types of ppl who like revenge who add to the violence in this country

Shades 09-12-2003 09:06 PM

Metallica_Band, wait until the day when someone really causes you or someone you love serious injury, and then see how inclined you are to turn the other cheek. It's easy to tell someone else that the mental anguish the perpetrator suffers is punishment enough, but impossible to live with if you're on the receiving end. I'm not guessing, this is experience talking. I used to think that I could take the high road too, but found that sometimes the only way to end your pain is to put it back on the person who gave it to you to begin with. In other words, this isn't Candy Land and life's not fair.

That's why you get counciling BEFORE all that bad stuff happens...if someone did that to one of MY family members then the person responsible had better pray that I would be getting some SERIOUS counciling...it's not worth it to get revenge on someone for something they did...I just hope I don't get put in to a situation like that

harhar 09-15-2003 03:00 PM

people do really fucked up things, and they donīt get enough punishment. Does couple of years sentence (first timers get less..) make equal? Drunk drivers should put to service years in hospitals to take care and deal with car crash victims, that would make their eyes open.

nostalgic1 09-15-2003 03:05 PM

oh man.. that link made me sad.. very very sad..

i lost a friend to a drunk driver... only she wasn't in the car with him... he hit her... the fucking moron...

troit 09-16-2003 07:44 AM

This doesn't happen much -- but after reading this thread I am actually at a loss for words... This is an incident that I would rather suppress and try to ignore as opposed to face it head on. Such a gruesome, horrible story.

At the very least I will take it for face value and we all should, as MarcoPolo suggested in TFP v.3, Learn from Others Mistakes!! so that we do not make the same ourselves.

frozenstellar 09-18-2003 03:47 AM

you dont realise how dangerous drink driving is until you see with your own eyes a friend get hit and killed by a drunken driver, and the after-effects on family, friends, and yourself mentally.

pay for a cab, walk home, sleep in your car, nothing is worth 'what could happen'.

Dano069 09-18-2003 05:20 AM

We just had another road worker killed by a drunk driver in the Chicago area. I think that makes number 3 this summer. This one happened in the construction zone on I-57, at 5:30 in the afternoon! The even crappier part about it? This guy has a history of DUIs! He shouldn't have been on the road.
