Cure for Balding??
ya i think i may be losing my hair, I used to dye it all the time and ever since i let the dye grow out, I have noticed that in the shower my hair is kinda coming out. I have noticed that my hair is kind of thin now, but everyone just tells me its my imagination. I also noticed that when i recently cut my hair short, it used to be kind of long, that my hair line seems higher than normal. Everyone just tells me this is my imagination but i am freaking out here. I am only 18 and no one in my family is bald at all, even my old grandpa. And besides this i am in good shape and i eat healthy and all that.
So is there anything that i can do or take that will help this but not have any crappy side effects? Call me shallow or vain but it just seems like i am too young for this. thanks. I didnt know where to post this. This seems good enough |
Pretty Obvious, but you should try Rogaine. It worked well for my uncle. Only problem though is that you gotta keep taking it even after you regrow some hair or you'll begin to lose it again if you don't. :(
good luck. |
i was thinking of that but it seemed like it was just one of those gimmicks that dont really work. I may try it though. thanks.

I actually talked to my doctor about this because I have a receding hair line as well. One thing to keep in mind is that Rogaine does NOT work for receding hair lines but rather a balding crown. The fine print in the information for Propecia also notes that it is not proven to work on receding hair lines. My doctor's take is that it's just who you are and a part of life. I agree with this to some extent but I'm 20 and he's 50 something with a full head of hair. A shaved head (not with a razor) is low maintenance and seems like a good way to go. However, it's all pretty superficial and unimportant when you give it some thought. I'm just going to make sure I don't look like Rob Corddry from the Daily Show.

some thoughts.
the more you fuss over this, the worse you're gonna feel, and more than likely, the worse it's actually gonna get. acceptance is key to moving on. i had a buddy back in high school... great guy, but in his senior year he was already in the advanced stages of male pattern baldness. sometimes it just hits early. see above paragraph about acceptance. talk to your doctor about your concerns and let him decide what your best treatment will be. and if it goes, let it go gracefully. no combovers. |
I've been losing hair since I was 18, and frankly, its just not worth the fuss - bald can be beautiful, if you are secure about it.
IMHO you should just let nature take its course. This is who you are, and running from that would only make you miserable. If you still feel the need to cheat your genes, talk to your doctor, as he knows whats best for you, not the advertisers who prey on peoples' insecurity. |

tried rogaine... was way too expensive and didn't work for me (receding hairline).
now I just say 'ah well' and move on. Every man on my dad's side of the family is bald - it's pretty much unavoidable for me. Get some cool hats (I like those mesh net-type cotton caps personally! they're stylin'!), buzz the hair short if you have to, and realize that it's not really that important in the grand scheme of things. my girlfriend still loves me! people still like to be my friend! I'm not a horrible balding freak! so many people are bald in north america - we can't all be models ;) just don't go to australia - a friend of mine from there was here in canada for a year....she couldn't believe how many men are bald/balding!!! apparently it's not nearly as common there. |
The best cure for balding is to go bald. Having a shiny bald dome is far better than having a shiny balding dome. It looks good and is fairly fashionable. shave it off with clippers and then every other day just run a bic over your skull.

I dont think i am up for shaving my head with a razor mainly cuz i had a couple of bike and other accidents when i was younger and there might be scars but thanks for the advice everyone.
I also do love hats so that may be in my future. |
Keep in mind that male pattern baldness is a testosterone dependant condition. Castration is a sure cure.
Of course, I have never yet heard of anyone who has chosen that option. |
I started going bald when I was in highschool.... decided to go for the shaved head deal... works well for me...... I get a lot of ladies wanting to touch my head and tell me how "cool" it feels.... my wife's not to big on the attention, but she does admit to liking it too.
OR.... and old wives tale says to get a cow to lick your bald spot. Not sure how I feel about that.... kinda small townish.... but hey give it a whirl and let me know... I'm thinkng it could be interesting!!! |
I started balding at 18 too...didn't become noticeable until 23 or so.
A couple of pieces of advice: 1) Acceptance is a good option. Everything else you can do to prevent baldness has got severe drawbacks. 2) Do not grow your (remaining) hair long. No woman I've ever talked to has liked that option. 2A) Cutting your hair short will make it look like you have more of it. 3) Work out. Give the ladies (I'm assuming you're straight) something else to look at! 4) Use sunscreen. Melanoma on the scalp is NOT a good thing. Alternatively, wear hats (I can't stand them, so sunscreen is my option). 5) If you're white, grow some sort of facial hair to "balance" your face out. Few white men look good with no hair at all. |
Masturbation, it won't stop the balding, but you will feel better.
