fat burners

ok, i do weight lifting regularly, as well as cardio, etc, etc. i pretty much know what i'm doing and know what i need to eat and what not to eat.
I'm trying to get really cut and lean. and i do whatever is needed for that.
I just need some input on fat burners such as Xanadrene or GNC's Ripped Fuel.

A while back there was some controversy about Xanadrene. But now i see more ppl using it. I guess same could be applied to Ripped Fuel.

In most cases, I look down on use of steroids and other un-natural things. i've stopped using creatine as well.
All that is a form of cheating, in my opion, and not healthy as a whole. so i'm wondering if fat burners could be placed in same category.

So, basically, what do you guys think about fat burners such as the 2 listed above? Are they worth taking? Anything bad about them? Any personal experiences?

I'm not fat at all, but i'm just trying to trim some fat off my stomach and sides.

thanks for the feedback

I would also love to know...I know ephidrine buggz me out, but what about these new ephedra free recipes??

My metabolism has slowed so much, I need some help!

Konichiwaneko 08-04-2003 08:49 PM

Ripped fuel didn't do well for me, it made me feel "Empty" even after using it properly.

Yeah, I keep hearing all these ephedra free "trimspa" comercials. They say that even Anna Nicole is losing weight with it. What is this stuff all about?

MikeV 08-06-2003 10:58 AM

The ephedra free products are all pretty much the same, and IMHO pretty much just as useless as the next.

The "secret" to losing fat is eating right. There's just no other way to keep fat off, or to drop those extra 2 or 3 pounds so you can visibly see the six pack you've worked so hard to develop, etc etc. If you look at any of the serious bodybuilding types, going on a diet is a huge part of competition prep, because it gets them down to minimal body fat so all the muscles can be seen clearly.

Okay, gettin off on a tangent, this isn't about bodybuilding. IMO, just make sure you eat right. No sh*t food, no fast food, no soda, blah blah. As far as eating, being in good shape SUCKS! :)

I use the ephedra free stuff but not really for weight loss..just a little "kick" before training in the a.m. ...they key to weight loss really is taking in less calories than u put out. but, if taking one of these supplements [not the pills that say eat whatever you want and you'll lose weight-if it sounds too good to be true it probably is] helps you train a little harder, burn a few more calories and build some fat-burning muscle might as well try it. in the end the key is to eat right, train hard and supplement smart...

I've used Xenadrine before, and with ample amounts of exercise (it gives MASSIVE energy) i lost about 15 lbs a month for three months. As a warning, after being on it for that long, the withdrawal symptoms weren't so hot (being excessively tired and falling asleep all the time). Other than that I say go for it and see how your body tolerates a pill at a time and then increase the dosage (up to 4 per day) as you can handle. Hope this helps.

I found this article interesting and im tempted to try it. I watch what I eat and I exercise when I can (haven't been able to workout quite the same since school started) but I still have fat that I can't seem to get rid of.

while i've never done it myself, i've seen some studies (and there are a bunch of people here who seem to love it) that say that HIIT is a good way to go. it seems to utilize more fatty acids and burn more calories over all than just straight up low-intensity long distance running. compared to a higher intensity endurance cardio session i'm not sure, but it current reasearch suggests it works better for fat loss than just plain old cardio. do a search on the board, you'll find it mentioned more than a few times.

ephedrine HCL > Ephedra

Get a stack of these:
Ephedrine HCL, 25mg
yomhimbine HCL, 2.5mg-5mg (depending on tolerance)
Caffeine, 200mg

thrice daily. It's a ungodly stimulant. Safe, if you don't go fcuk yourself and take 10 doses a day. Not for peeps with high blood pressure. Test your tolerance first, etc.

Do a search in BB.com forums for more info.

And of course, diet is king. cardio aren't needed - but it can help. but only if you diet is in place.

Yall DO know that the big active ingredient in those pills is simple caffine?

You can save money and buy caffine pills and should have the same effect. Stay away from Ripped Fuel btw, I used it back in HS for wrestling until two people from our state had heart attacks while on it. That shit makes your heart explode.

chickentribs 09-26-2004 07:47 PM

I'm afraid that it seems anyone who has had any luck with these products took them with the ephedrine in them. If you didn't mind sweating and shaking all day, they would help knock off that extra 2-4 pounds by jacking up your metabolism. Seaver let us in on one of the more unpleasant side effects of the product, though.

Ephedrine has since been banned by the Feds and you can't get it in any of these products in the US anymore. You are looking at mostly a placebo effect now. People take something on a regular basis and it helps to keep them motivated to hit the gym or at least take the stairs instead of the elevator. Afraid it comes back to diet and exercise.

ironx nailed it. Take that recipe and *exercises*

Diet pills can help --a lot-- when combined with diet and exercises.

I have been using a product called Ventaline for 2 months straight with a cycle of 2 months on 1 month off. It says it is a fat burner but it feels more like Ultimate Orange on roids. I was not able to lose any weight but I considerably lost fat and 2 inches offf my waist in 1 1/2 months. This is versus me taking ephedra free xendrine with a 1 month on 1 month off cycle. The ventaline helped me lose wieght because I was eating properly and had more intense workouts. Ventaline felt like an ephedra product!!! So far I have actually started losing pounds now becuase of a change in workout regimin (higher reps and cardio interval training) and have lost 6lbs since two weeks ago (not amazing but safe). So, to sum it up, i recommend ventaline because of the pump and energy it gives.

But,
1. It is expensive (for most - I paid $50 for 48 servings (5ml serving ina 240ml bottle)
2. It taste like crap... worst than bioburn wich taste like bad metumucil.
3.You need to apply with the provided "syringe type" applicator unless you want to use a spoon and get it all over your tounge.

ironx 10-02-2004 11:10 PM

Ephedrine HCL aren't banned, Ephedra is banned.

I've got Tourette's Syndrome, and as a result, I'm *incredibly* sensitive to stimulants (as in, four cups of GREEN tea at 5PM keeps me awake until 5am!). I also take some medications that wouild be harmful with carb blockers. I can't take either. :(
