teaching a old dog new tricks...
I'm 22 and starting Tae Kwon Do and Silat classes. Never had any prior experience and didn't even know what Silat was until tonight. But I really want to be serious about this.
So, my question is: Are there any good resourses out there? Are there any tips and/or advice that any tfp'ers want to pass on? |
I myself am practicing Taekwondo, But i've never heard about Silat .. Hmm .. Wierd :)

Silat is a Maylasian martial art that focuses more on self defense. It's not, from what I gather, too widely practiced outside of country. So it's not that wierd if you haven't heard of it. But, is there anything that you learned that you feel like passing on to some one just starting?

The only real advice i can give you is to do what your trainer says, he/she knows best.
Superhuman flexibility is not nessesary, but it is always a good thing to be able to stretch your leg abit higher. Im always stretching at home when i don't have anything to do, and the result of doing so for the last 8 months or so, is that im Very close to split, and im completely down in the one with leg forth and back. (don't know the english name) |
